This book was very good for my 4 year old who has been interested in castles and knights. The pictures were great and I felt the content was good for reading to a 4 year old.

We love all things Usborne. They are a great way to teach young children about their world both past and present. My boys LOVED this book. It is simple and engaging.

My four year old daughter was interested in castles and this book is at a perfect level for her. Nice illustrations, fun facts, but not too in depth. We recommend it!

My kids were really captivated by this book. They are on a knights kick right now and learning all about what happens in castles and what knights did was really fun for them.
I would have given it five stars, but I did feel like I had to change the words a tiny bit in that they emphasized the word "rich" throughout the book. It seems a little bit like an us v. them piece at some points. It seemed to stress that life was easy and good for the rich, which was simply not the case - everyone has their job to do and I am sure building and protecting the castle, worrying about the harvest, and funding the armies was stressful in its own right. Not to mention, the idea that money brings ease and happiness aren't ideas that we stress in our home. However, I did only have to change about 2-3 sentences so it was still a four star book for two budding imaginations in our home. |
