5.0 out of 5 stars Intensity and several new features
This is a platform fighter game that incorporates some from Castlevania I, in that you have a solid quest, and Castlevania II where you have a choice as to the leg of the path you chose. This is a platform fighter game that incorporates some from Castlevania I, in that you have a solid quest, and Castlevania II where you have a choice as to the leg of the path you chose. This game has amazing new features, characters and weapons! You start the game as Trevor Belmnot, vampire hunter who's goal as usual is to kill Dracula. On your quest, you meet up with Sypha, who is a magician with powerful and awesome spells. Grant who is a theif and who may stick to walls and ceilings... it is difficult to get him to stick though. Alucard who is Dracula's son, he doesn't offer much other than turning into a bat. Along the quest there are several new and old monsters, bosses and challenges. This game is very challenging, so much so that it does get annoying, and the game has probably the greatest graphics ever for Nintendo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful., October 9, 2002

Personally, Konami is my favorite group of publishers/developers. I always find myself becoming quite attached to their games, ever since I played Castlevania ][: Simon's Quest and the unbelievably superb Super Castlevania IV. So it's pretty needless to say that I like Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, with its multiple paths and multiple character gameplay (pretty unusual at the time and, obviously, well accepted since then). If you like the other Castlevanias (including Symphony of the Night, even though it's drastically different), I'm sure you'll like this'ne.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, June 29, 2002
This review is from: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (Video Game)
One of the greatest games ever to be released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

It is actually a prequel to Castlevania and Castlevania 2.

The gameplay has returned to the more traditional Castlevania (removing the RPG gameplay from the second one). However in this game you can choose your path to the castle and you can have another charactor to help you along (you will "bump" into them during your quest).

This I consider to be in the top ten catigory as one of the greatest games ever to be released for NES.

A true Classic

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Castlevainia ever., January 2, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (Video Game)
Nevermind the gay manga art projects that is castlevainia SOTNonward, Castlevainia III is the real deal. Caatlevainia 1-X and rebirth are the only castlevainia games worth playing, this is by far the best one, so many memories, no castlevainia game made since can touch this game.

Almost as cool as Castlevania 2 but not quite. A good all around game for new or old school gamers on the greatest system ever built.

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said. But I do want to make it clear, that this game WILL work in a Retron 3. That's the clone console I have and it plays just fine. I've read other reviews that said it wouldn't work on any clone console, and while that may be true for other clone consoles, it definatly works in a Retron 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely awesome game, April 3, 2011

This review is from: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (Video Game)
This one is easily the strongest release of the NES Castlevanias. It goes back to the approach taken in the original game, but with some new features to add to the gameplay. Taking control of Trevor Belmont, and ancestor of Simon's, you are joined along the way by Grant, Sypha, and Alucard. Along the course of gameplay, you can choose paths when you come to forks in the road, which will change how one experiences this game (which really adds to the replay value). There are other smaller additions in the form of new level mechanics and new types of enemies. Overall, this installment of the series polished up quite a bit of the gameplay found in Castlevania.

This game is extremely hard though, but that's not a bad thing. It finds a balance between fun and aggravation that keeps me playing, and that made beating it all the more satisfying. To top it off, the graphics and music are awesome. Castlevania III was one of the best game buys I've ever made.
