4.0 out of 5 stars Good classis Casltevania game! Just too short. April 28, 2014
Platform for Display:PC Download| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
I bought this game for 15 dollars off of amazon about 2 weeks ago. I loved Castlevania Lord of Shadows, and especially Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. So, when I heard that this game was side scroll. I decided to give it a try. First off, the gameplay is good not great. I sort of felt like the character should have been just a little smaller. 1st reason is because it just doesn't allow the possibility of being challenged by more than just a few enemies at a time. 2nd, is when your running, you can tend to walk into enemies. Or, walk off a ledge if your not careful. Just a small con, nothing major.

The game auto saves a lot. Has narrative tips, arrows, etc. Which you can turn off to make the game a little more challenging. I recommend if you want this game to be worth every penny. Turn off the narrative tips. You don't have to necessarily put it on hard. Because, in the end, with the arrow telling you where to go. It just makes the game too short in my opinion. Which means, if I can restart the game over again for the first time. I would have turned off narration tips. Only turning them on when I was really lost.

Next, in this game you start off as Gabriel Belmont. For a little prologue chapter and intro. Then you get to play as Simon in Act 1. Then, you get to play as Alucard in act 2. Which, in my opinion, was really cool. Then, you get to play as Trevor Belmont in the final act. Who is Alucard, before he becomes a vampire. The game plays through Simon, Alucard, then Trevor going backward in events during the stories timeline. The story is pretty good. Cinematics are good. But, using the narration tips. I finished the game in 9 hours. Then, finished it 100% with 2 more hours. Once you finish the game 100%. You get a little cinematic to finish off the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best castlevania on PC April 25, 2014
Platform for Display:PC Download| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
This game is underrated to me. I see it as the best castlevania to make it on PC. It has all of the old school 2D goodness, lots of secrets, platforming(jumps, swinging around with morningstar, etc.), great combat, you are free to roam the map all the way from the end back to the start all through the levels and castle. The graphics are good for a 2D game and it has some very nice kill animations. voice acting, characters are all decent. I think its better than any of the "metroidvania games" on steam that all try to be a castlevania game, it is what they wish they could be. I loved it and had fun with it.

I honestly havent really given this game much play time. I'm a castlevania fan so it was a must buy. The PC version seems like a quick port of the 3DS version it comes from, but it looks like a solid platformer. Dont expect console quality graphics or fluid movement. feels like a cheap old psp, ps1, or n64 game. Graphics are obviously better though. Can't wait to play it through when I get the chance.
