Simply Satisfied,

This review is from: Castor & Pollux Organix Adult Indoor Feline Formula, Chicken, Brown Rice & Flax Dry Cat Food, 6-Pound Bag (Grocery)
My cat is very picky when it comes to food, but she loves Organix dried food by Castor and Pollux. She had been enjoying the Organix Adult Feline formula in the orange bag, but then I noticed that they had a new product for indoor cats. My cat is 18 and does not want to go outside. She lives to eat and sleep and her waistline is proof of this. I was hoping that she would not be put off by me switching her to the indoor formula and I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I opened the top of the bag she could smell the aroma seeping out, which as cat food goes wasn't bad by the way. She then proceded to climb up the bag and put her head into it. She was in heaven and kept going back for more. I am very happy that she accepted the food and my gamble paid off. Now my only hope is that it might help her slim down as well. We shall soon see.

I was so happy when I read the list of ingredients because it all sounded SO HEALTHY!! Looks good, smells good, but sadly my two cats pretty much hate it. They will eat it but only as a last resort against starving to death. I am greatly disappointed.

Cats love it,

I have tried a few different types of natural and organic cat foods and so far this seems to be perfect. I have been feeding it for a few months now and not only do all three cats love it but the one cat who was plagued by hairballs (no matter what remedy I tried)is cured. No more hair balls and he's put on some weight. And did I mention they love it?

Hard, sharp, pointed kibble,
By Dave Gray (Ozarks) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Castor & Pollux Organix Adult Indoor Feline Formula, Chicken, Brown Rice & Flax Dry Cat Food, 6-Pound Bag (Grocery)
Since my (and my cats') beloved PetPromise went under, I've been searching for another high-quality dry catfood of equal purity and quality (PetPromise never had to be recalled for contamination and was endorsed by Andrew Weil).I was attracted by the organic, free-range chicken ingredients of the Castor & Pollux Organix line, so I picked up some canned food as well as a bag of Organix "adult indoor feline" because my cats are a bit on the chubby side. My cats loved the Organix canned food. But later on, unfortunately, they started eating the "adult indoor feline" hard food but soon stopped and just stared at the food. I'm wondering if it's the kibble itself. The pieces are triangular, on the large side, quite hard, pointed and sharp, and I imagine many a cat (especially domestic) would not find biting into them a pleasant experience at all. Considering that my older cat (21) often wolfs her hard food down whole, I think this kibble would not be easy to swallow at all. She would sniff but not eat the kibble. I'm going to leave it out for them tonight, but if it's not gone by morning as the PetPromise always was, I'm returning it to the store.

Brown rice is horrible for cats!,
This review is from: Castor & Pollux Organix Adult & Kitten Feline Formula, Chicken, Brown Rice & Flax Dry Cat Food, 6-Pound Bag (Grocery)
Any cat food with rice in it is *species inappropriate food*. Please don't buy this for your cat! They cannot digest grains - furthermore, mother nature did not intend for cats to be carbohydrate-consuming animals. Cats have a physiological decrease in the ability to utilize carbohydrates due to the lack of specific enzymatic pathways that are present in other mammals, and the lack a salivary enzyme called amylase. Pet food manufacturers put carbohydrates into cat food (especially dry cat food) because it is cheaper to obtain and produce than meat-based protein. For more info, see [...]. If you want to feed your cat a healthy, high-quality cat food, and you're not willing to go raw, then Wellness or Evo are both high protein, low carbohydrate, grain-free cat foods. Don't believe me - by all means, do the research yourself. We all just want our cats to be happy and healthy.

I have to admit it took a while for the cats to get used to this food. I switched to this from Science Diet Cat Hairball Formula because it was binding up one of the cats. He let me know the only way a kitty could that he had a blockage. So, after much research I landed on Organix. I found it at Petco but it was $4 more per pound than the ones I found here on Amazon. Both have adjusted to the new food after complaining for a while and both seem very happy, digestively speaking.

You really can't go any better than organic, my cats love it (shinier coat) and it's a reasonable price. Why pay the same for less quality?

My 6 cats love this food and since it is organic I know it doesn't contain any 4-D meat. All of the Castor & Pollux foods have always been popular with my kitties.

The cat food I ordered was just what I wanted, so I was very disappointed when I learned from amazon.com that it would no longer be available.
