Awesome Puppy Food!, April 8, 2009
This review is from: Castor & Pollux Ultramix Canine Formula, Dry Large Breed Puppy, 15-Pound Bag (Grocery)
My breeder and vet both gave me Science Diet for my Boston Terrier puppy. After smelling my Boston's flatulence and excrement, I decided Science Diet was probably not a good choice for breeds with known gastro-intestinal problem.
I did a lot of reading of ingredients and reviews, and decided Science Diet was probably not a good choice for any breeds. I decided on Castor and Pollux for it's cost to value ratio and the holistic ingredients . Yes, it is a little more expensive, but worth every cent, especially if you have a smaller breed that doesn't eat that much anyways.
It doesn't have any products in it that I wouldn't eat myself and has actual pieces of dried fruit and vegetables, which my dog loves. For the full ingredient list and more views (currently 21 with 4.8 paws out of 5), go to Petco's website.
Amazon has the cheapest price that I can find, plus free shipping. The first bag I ordered was opened and taped back together! I was furious, but Amazon over-nighted me a new one.
One more note, if you change your young puppy's dog food, be sure to do it gradually over the course of a week or so, so as not to upset his stomach.
