I would recommend it to anyone that needs a good quality brake fluid.

He used to be a race car driver and know a lot about cars, and he is the one that I depend on to do my brakes and this was money well spent!

When you think about it the brakes are the most important part of your vehicle. What good is going zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds if you then plow into a tree? Yet I know so many people who leave the most important part of the most important part (the fluid) to cheapo store brands. Why? Is Castrol LMA more money? A little. But how often do you use a quart of brake fluid? OK I use a lot. I change the fluid in my motorcycle every season (twice when I rode year 'round). So it costs about $5 tops a year to change the fluid in the bike and $12 tops to change the car. Wow.. $1 a month ( 40 cents on the bike).. Somehow I don't think that is too much to keep me from being on the 10 o'clock news. But enough digression.
Castrol LMA has superior moisture resistance for a DOT 4 fluid. It is also crystal clear. So if you have a clean reservoir you can tell right away that it is time for new fluid. Can you see the fluid? Change it. You can in fact see it, to track the level.
But when it looks like the store brand it has done it's job and need to be retired.
Beyond the chemistry the fluid does in fact offer better feel and initial set to the brakes. Motorcycle brakes are a good way to judge, being a small system and since you use your hand you have a better feel for what is better. LMA is better.
Everyone in my riding group wants my brakes. I tell them buy LMA. "Oh it's expensive/hard to find etc.. Hey, you're willing to buy $35 for oil that lasts for 3 months? But not $5 brake fluid last 12? OK.. You'll never have brakes like mine..

Castrol LMA has been my brake fluid of choice since Castrol came out with it. Low Moisture Avidity (it doesn't pick up water (which boils at very low temperature and makes your brakes go away). It's DOT 4 and we use it in our SCCA race car, my race bike - a Honda VFR750F - on the track and street, our personal cars and the race car trailer brakes.
Great stuff, reasonable price, and works just as well as the $100/pint exotic race brake fluid in anything we drive. All brake fluid should be changed once a year, a messy job but important as impurities do get into it.

Unless you want to spend a fortune for the super-premium fluids, IMHO, this is the one to buy. Castrol has been my first choice for over 40 years and I've never regretted it.

What you will be getting is Castrol DOT 4 Synthetic oil which you can get at the local auto parts store for half this price.

Castrol GT LMA is the old name of the same product. When I called auto part stores for Castrol GT LMA they did not have it because it's the old name they are not familiar with.

The main picture above is the old product white bottle and "GT LMA" name.

The current name is simply 'Castrol Brake Fluid DOT 4', and it comes in a black bottle.

The Castrol product documentation sheet is from January 2011 and is still current as of April 2014. It continues to use the phrase "Low Moisture Activity" in the name. That, and the same dry boiling point of 509F, suggests that it's essentially the same product they have been selling since the late 1980's. Of course back then it was a bit special.

it still compares well against most of the brake fluids you'll find in chain stores. Even though most cars specify DOT 4, you'll typically find that stores carry primarily DOT 3 fluid, with only one or two DOT 4 products. At one time Valvoline had a 'SynPower' branded fluid in a silver bottle that edged this out in performance, but they have since downgraded to 'DOT 3 and DOT 4' fluid in a white bottle with a 450F boiling point. ATE and Pentosin match or beat Castrol specs, but the higher price means that they are rarely stocked.

In my experience, a 12 ounce bottle isn't enough to flush a brake system to clean fluid at each wheel. Two 12 ounce bottles are needed for a small car, and a quart/liter bottle is needed for a larger car with ABS. That said, you can never really clean the system out. You are just diluting the moisture in the system. Using a 12 ounce bottle to flush 2-3 ounces out of each wheel more frequently is a better approach, although you have to measure rather look for a clarity change.

I've used Castrol LMA brake fluid in various street and racing cars for decades and always have been happy with the results. It's easy to bleed systems using LMA, and it's easy to get a firm pedal. I haven't experienced any caliper or master cylinder corrosion, but I always change and fully flush my brake systems every 2-years of more often on the race cars.

Good reliable product that does what it's intended to do.

Great product. Would buy again & again. Fast shipping. Well packed. Worked very well. What more can I say about Brake fluid. It will eat the paint off your garage floor if it drips.

Love this brake fluid, I have used it in a cpl vehicles when doing a complete fluid flush using my motive power bleeder! I will be flushing the fluid in my wife's 2001 Tacoma and I'm sure this fluid will be great like it's always been! My only wish is that more auto stores carried it, I bought it at NAPA auto in the past and had to pay more for it. Great brake fluid and worth the $$$$$ spent!!!!
