From the Artist
"Casual Amplexus" is the result of a love of/ fascination with both music and herpetology. Frogs and toads provide an incredible array of amazing and intense sounds- this is what provides the raw material and inspiration for "Casual Amplexus". Male anurans vocalize essentially in an attempt to meet girls and therefor put themselves at great risk to passionately infuse the night with their song (sound familiar?). This music absolutely does NOT sound like a frog singing a simple melody. In other words, the seasonally famous frogs that one might encounter in malls going "quank quank quank" to the tune of "Jingle Bells" are not featured on this recording. On the other hand, influences that I would readily include which may serve to orient ones expectation for this stylistically diverse music are Frank Zappa, John Adams, Brian Eno, Tom Waits, Igor Stravinsky, any of the old blues guitarists, Steve Reich, Nine Inch Nails, and perhaps Pink Floyd.
