What a horrible, horrible book and series. I really like the "Nerd" books and thought these would be in the same vein...light, goofy, fun. It was just awful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Three, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Casual Hex (Mass Market Paperback)
Fairy Prince Leo of Atwood Kingdom must prove to his mother that he is worthy of the throne by showing himself capable of a selfless act. To do this, Queen Beryl sends Leo to Big Knob, Indiana, to meet Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dubois. Prince Leo's quest is to meet Gwen, help her overcome her shyness, and become self-confident with men. Prince Leo has never put the desires of others before himself. He has been a playboy his entire life. Yet to earn the crown he must succeed in the quest, no matter how undesirable this human mortal must be. But once the prince meets Gwen and sees her beauty, the task seems easy. Leo begins entering her dreams and giving Gwen the hottest time of her life.

Gwen enjoys her dream lover until the botanist from Paris finally arrives in tow to view the tropical planets found thriving in their snowy forest. Jean-Marc Chevalier has enjoyed the emails with Gwen and looks forward to meeting her, as well as examine the plants. One look at Gwen and Marc is certain he has met his perfect woman. Marc only has to a few days to be in the area. He needs to think quickly.

To the public, Dorcas and Ambrose Lowell as relationship counselors. In truth, Dorcas is a witch and Ambrose a wizard. Having succeeded with two previous couples, the matchmakers have turned their attentions to Gwen. Marc is Gwen's soul-mate and the pair conspire to bring the couple together. However, a certain prince does not want to give Gwen up. Let the rivalry between mortal and fairy begin!

***** A terrific romance filled with a wide variety of zany characters, including an ADD dragon trying to earn his golden scales. The story is very well written and the plot flows smoothly throughout the book. In a word: Magical. *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again the "Hex" series delivers, March 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casual Hex (Mass Market Paperback)
Casual Hex is a delightful paranormal romance that refuses to pander to the formulaic plots of regular series romances. The plot twists and fully fleshed out characters deliver plenty of drama while keeping the light hearted tone of the previous books in this series. Anyone who enjoys romance novels will not be disappointed by this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun romantic fantasy, March 8, 2009
This review is from: Casual Hex (Mass Market Paperback)
Matchmaking witches Dorcas and Ambrose know that Gwen Dubois and Marc Chevalier are soulmates. They plan to hook up the Indiana resident with the French botanist. All they have to do is get Marc to leave sunny France for wintry Big Knob, Indiana.

The way to his heart lies with tropical plants so the two witches cast a spell to have special equatorial flora in the icy cold Hoosier State. Marc crosses the pond to investigate, but is distracted when he meets Gwen. However, their perfect plan runs into a snag when Prince Leo of the Atwood fairy kingdom chooses Gwen to be his bride.

The latest trip to the eerie hex capital of the world, Big Knob, Indiana (see OVER-HEXED and WILD & HEXY) is an enjoyable lighthearted story as Dorcas and Ambrose work loving magic with the usual amusing side consequences; this time a royal hex of a mess. The lead human couple is a likable pairing. They get along from the onset with the strife coming from the pushy prince. Fans will enjoy this jocular jaunt as Dorcas provides the perspective to this romantic fantasy and the hexy saga with wisdom that Paris and Atwood are no Big Knob.
