Editorial Reviews

German limited edition of 2002 compilation includes a bonus DVD (PAL) with four videos, 'A Girl Like You', 'The Magic Piper (Of Love)', 'Johnny Teardrop', & 'What Presence?!'. 'A Casual Introduction' is a compilation of the most popular tracks by Edinburgh-born Edwyn Collins & his early 1980's project, Orange Juice. His music has been compared by critics to acts such as Lloyd Cole & Pulp. 'A Girl Like You' was a top five solo hit in 1995, whilst 'Rip It Up' was a top ten hit for Orange Juice in 1983. Gatefold digipak. Sony. 2003.

3.0 out of 5 stars decent introduction, bad production, August 1, 2005
This review is from: Casual Introduction (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I liked the few Orange Juice tracks I'd heard at the time and didn't want to pay the import prices for "You Can't Hide Your Love Forever". Anyone buying this for OJ material will be disappointed - the focus is mainly on Collins' solo material, and the versions of OJ tracks on this disc don't sound nearly as crisp, bright and energetic as they do on YCHYLF.
