Underappreciated Film: Unbelievable Score,
By A Customer
This review is from: Casualties of War (Audio CD)
Quite possibly one of the greatest film composers of all time, Ennio Morricone once again astounds cinemagoers with the passionate, "Casualties of War." Best known for his spaghetti 'twangs' and whistles of many an Italian Western, Morricone has continually solidified himself as an innovator and cornerstone of film music. "Casualties of War" is perhaps his most complete score since 1972's "Once Upon A Time In The West." Though only really developing two themes throughout the album, Morricone weaves both masterfully as a spiritual choral reckoning and elegy bind this tragic tale set during the Vietnam War. Ennio Morricone would, however, succeed in surpassing himself once again with 1991's FLAWLESS score for the Warren Beatty biopic "Bugsy." Over the years, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of film music further and further with such works as his powerfully simple "The Thing," his fastpaced and complicated "In The Line of Fire," and two wonderful scores in, "The Mission" and "Cinema Paradiso."

A Beautiful and tragic music score,
By Manny "Mora" (St.Louis Mo.) - See all my reviews

The theme music to "Casualties of War" and the track "Elegy for Brown" are very sad indeed. Ennio Morricone is delightful in creating haunting scores for films. An incredible soundtrack to an overlooked Vietnam War film.

Music entails a definite response to the horror of war,

This review is from: Casualties of War (Audio CD)
This CD never looses the inner effect of the inhumanity that man can coerce onto another human being. The music compels to the next level of inner synapses of human horror inflicted on the soul.
