My husband loves this product and will ask me to actually spend money to get him more and more of it. It lathers well, conditions his skin and smells wonderful! He has been using it for about 10 years now and gets a nice shave with it. I love the scent, it isn't overpowering.

For a man to be using it for 10 years, it is truly wonderful.

I enjoy the mild sandalwood fragrance of this cream and it goes well when combined with a sandalwood aftershave. As a shaving cream, it does the job it is required to. However, it does not lather as much as I would like it to, hence does not give as much cushioning as some other creams I have tried. I used a Proraso eucalyptus cream prior to this one, and I prefer that product.

This is certainly not a bad cream, and the sandalwood scent has just the right intensity. But there are other products available which functionally do a better job.

After the demise of Zirh, I went searching for a suitable replacement for Zirh Shave Cream. Caswell-Massey isn't suitable. It contains stearyl alcohol and heavy fragrance. When I shave, my first step is to splash hot water on my face, then apply the shave cream. Now, C-M is very slippery and smooth, and it smells delicious, but after the shaving process is done, the areas where I once had the shaving cream are now very red.

For a shave cream to smell good really isn't important to me, as I shower after I shave. From here on out, I will pay close attention to ingredient labels. No fragrance and no alcohol.

I give it two stars because it does provide a very smooth and slick shave, and it rinses well from my razor. I suspect that it leaves your skin moisturized as well. It's just too irritating.

Odd how this has been so highly rated on Amazon but dogged on the shaving discussion forums. The guys who post at the forums tend to hate it, & reviewers here love it (so far, anyway). So I wanted to try it myself and bought a container a few months ago.

Scent: The scent is soapy and very mildly sandalwood-ish. Not so bad, not wonderful either. It doesn't linger too long. I can smell it for about half an hour after I shave with it, but it's quite mild, not at all overwhelming.

Lather: Unlike the posters at the forums, I have not had a hard time getting it to lather, though it does seem to take a little more cream than for most of the good shaving creams. It does come in an 8 oz. tub, which is fairly generous. The main problem from my experience is that the lather doesn't hold up very well. After my first pass, I can tell that it's become a good bit thinner.

Cushion & Slickness: Not bad in the cushion department, at least initially. Problem is that it loses it due to the thinning out, as noted above. It was somewhat difficult to find the right amount of water:cream ratio to produce the amount of slickness I like.

I probably won't buy it again, as I prefer Proraso and Taylor of Old Bond Street creams, which are also less expensive.

This is truly a great shaving cream! It has very nice cushion. The scent is mild to me but very nice. It has an old fashioned quality that you don't see in a lot of creams today. Top shelf product with a good price point. You get plenty of shaving cream too! A must have!

What a fantastic aroma. I use this cream to shave my legs. My husband uses it to shave also skin is left smooth and smelling oh so good.

Best shaving soap/cream I have ever used. And I have quite a few years experience.

Gives a smooth shave, smells great and will make shaving a pleasure.
