Product Description

He'll do whatever it takes to protect his mate.

Halle Pumas, Book 3

Dr. Adrian Giordano is quite happy with the way his life is going. His two best friends are happily mated, and he's still sanely single. He has friends, a thriving business, and the occasional Saturday night date. Then Sheridan Montgomery comes to town. His inner Puma responds to the husky-voiced snow princess in a way that tells him his life is about to be turned upside down.

Sheri can't believe her luck could be this bad. Instinct tells her Adrian is her mate, but the last thing she wants to do is drag him into her messy life. She's on the run from a big bad wolf-an ex who won't take no for an answer. Worse, if he catches her, he's got the teeth (and the Pack!) to take what he wants.

She doesn't stand a chance alone, but with her friends-and the persistent Adrian-by her side, she might just survive.

If her ex doesn't eat the yummy Dr. Giordano for lunch, that is...

Warning: This title contains explicit sex, graphic language, a handsome, dark-eyed shifter and a couple of bites to remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 blue ribbons from Romance Junkies, August 10, 2009
This review is from: Cat of a Different Color: Halle Pumas, Book 3 (Kindle Edition)
Optometrist Adrian Giordano isn't looking for a mate. He's quite content with his life exactly as it is - a successful business, friends and occasionally even dating. His best friends have both succumbed to their instincts and mated but Adrian shudders at the thought of being accountable to a mate. At least that's what he thought before meeting Sheri. Now he can't imagine his life without her. All he has to do is convince her that he's the only man for her.

Sheridan Montgomery has recently joined the Pride. She's been resistant to joining the pack because of her ex's obsessive behavior and she didn't want to drag anyone else into her mess but she's running out of options. Instinctively Sheri knows that Adrian is her mate but she's determined to deny it as long as Parker remains a threat.

The Pride welcomes Sheri with open arms - and after hearing her story a network of protection is put in force. Sheri's thrilled with her new friends, home and part time job working at Wallflowers. Her only real worry is how long it will be before Parker makes a move. She's successfully ignored her Puma's need for Adrian and continues to deny it to herself and everyone around her. It's the only way she can protect him - or so she thinks. Fortunately, Adrian isn't willing to wait for her to come to her senses and he practically kidnaps her and carries her off to his home where he claims her properly.

Just when it seems that Sheri could have a real life free of worry over Parker's next move he strikes. All Sheri's desires to protect Adrian fall by the wayside as it's determined that he is the Pride Marshall. It's his duty to protect the Alpha and the Pride from threats and he takes his duty very seriously. No psycho wolf in men's clothing is going to harm his mate or anyone in his pack and live to tell about it. Of course like any feline he'll have to torment his prey a little before going in for the kill.

CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is the third story in Dana Marie Bell's HALLE PUMAS series. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the stories in this series but this one really stands out. The characters are larger than life, ballsy, lovable and flawed and because of that they seem very real. If I wasn't in love with the PRIDE before I certainly am now! Sheri's caring and generous nature makes her a genuinely likeable character but when you add her disabilities into the equation then she's truly an inspiration. Adrian's simply delightful and perfect for Sheri because he is so protective and he isn't swayed by her arguments.

In addition to the normal cast of characters we've come to know and love in the HALLE PUMAS series we're introduced to another character in particular, Richard, the new Alpha of the Wolf Pack in the Poconos. There's a showdown between him and Belinda, a Pride member who's having difficulties finding acceptance in the Pride.

If you haven't read the other titles in this series, I'd highly recommend doing so - not because it's necessary to understand this book but because they're delightfully fun. In order, they are:
THE WALLFLOWER
SWEET DREAMS
and
CAT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR
STEEL BEAUTY

Dana Marie Belle has done it again. I love this series. It's not often that one of the main characters in a series is handicapped in some sort, but with the Heroine being Albino and being nearly blind, the writer touched on a subject that I knew nothing about and I enjoy books that are not only touching emotionally but can slyly teach me about something as well. The hero in this book, at first glance you'd think is a nerd, but he's really not. I think he's a Gamma male and I tend to like those. The attraction between the two main characters seems realistic to me and the sex scenes are HAWT. I highly recommend you read this author. It was because of BRL's blog that I started reading this author and I'm so glad I did. I love this wallflower series by Dana and recommend all of them to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat of a Different Color, July 22, 2009
This review is from: Cat of a Different Color: Halle Pumas, Book 3 (Kindle Edition)
Dr. Adrian Giordano's two best friends have both been happily mated and while he is happy for them he is in no way looking for a mate. Isn't the saying you will find you mate when you least expect it? Well this is what happens to Adrian. He thought he was happy with his occasional weekend date, thriving business and friends. He found out differently when Sheridan Montgomery comes to town. She is the former college friend of Adrian's best friends and has come to ask for help in the form of joining the pack. Oh did I mention that Adrian and his friends are puma shifters?

While Sheridan has been a loner since she was changed, she needs help with a stalker (former boyfriend) who has gotten way out of hand. When she meets Adrian her inner cat tells her that he is her mate. But, she fights it as she knows her stalker will be a death threat to Adrian if he suspects that she is mated to him.

Can the pack help Sheridan with her stalker? Will Adrian and Sheri be able to overcome the obstacles and mate as nature wants them to?

After reading Cat of a Different Color my first thought, was ooh interesting, I had never thought what would happen to a were animal that was an albino, and the challenges they might face. Add to this the dynamic writing of Ms. Bell, her alpha male characters, and a woman being stalked, and you have a winning combination that pulled me in from the first page. I am now going out to find the rest of the Halle Pumas series. I found that Ms. Bell handled the struggles and serious nature of stalking with the importance that it needs and at the same time was able to build a strong relationship between Adrian and Sheri. I hope if you like were animal romances you will pick up Cat of a Different Color and I believe you will have an enjoyable read.

More About the Author

Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old.
She attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts for creative
writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her
parents moved out of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for
her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held fast,
and she graduated with honors despite herself. She's now a best selling
author with Samhain Publishing.

Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast with a brief stint on the US Virgin
Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate and husband Dusty, their two
maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that
thinks it's a Pekinese. She's been heard to describe herself as "vertically
challenged" and "a lapsed brunette." Dana also suffers from osteoarthritis,
and can be seen walking with a cane or tooling around in her mobility
scooter. Her condition was the inspiration for Belle's hip injury in Steel
Beauty.
