This is the most beautifully illustrated book I've seen in years. Each page is a complete story, done with sophistication, and stunnningly executed. It's a timeless story about star-crossed lovers in the animal kingdom. It teaches tolerance and acceptance in a non-dogmatic quirky way. Great for Kids!!!!! (and adults too)

My local librarian recommended this to me for my 3-month-old. When I brought it home and opened it up, his eyes grew wide and his mouth opened with wonder. He absolutely loves the illustrations. No matter how fussy he is in the evening, if I open this book up, he will sit still to look at it and listen. The story is simple yet beautiful, and I've decided to buy the book so he can enjoy it for the next few years.

An on-line acquaintance recommended this book to me as my cut-paper work had reminded them of this illustrator's style. While the plot and content may not be for my age group, the detailed illustrations are glorious and speak to Curtis's skill with pen and ink. The story is simple enough for young readers to follow and understand, and I can envision many a parent curling up with their children to read this book before bed. Even though I'm not (yet) a parent, this book gets a full rating from me.
