I managed to break the swinging door off during the training period with our fickle (scaredee) cat (taping it open). Although it was probably due more to my own clumsiness than anything else, this vendor sent me an entirely new unit on their own initiative! THAT is customer service to the max and I would definitely purchase from them again. Wish our car dealers (had three of them at one time) could take a page from this company's standard practice policies.

Almost 15 years ago we bought and installed this cat flap in the interior plywood-paneled door leading from our kitchen to the basement stairs. It served us very well, allowing us to keep our cats confined upstairs or downstairs, or give them free access to all of the house while keeping our young children away from the basement stairs. We are buying a replacement because a dog staying at our house clawed the cat flap frame off the door. We had confined the dog to the basement while we went out for a few hours. The dog is somewhat high-strung, so I don't think it's a reflection on the quality of the cat door that the dog destroyed it. The good news is that the plastic frame came off the door in pieces, and the door itself and the rough opening cut for the cat flap were not damaged. Replacing the cat flap should be only a matter of screwing the new frame onto the door.

This product was well-made, easily installed, and cost a fraction of those offered in the local pet supermarket. (Teaching a cat to use it is another matter.)

This door is great. We used it inside the house, though it seems to be more for an exterior screen door. The lock is easy to use and the flap actually stays closed/locked unlike our previous cat door. We got a great price - it's definitely been a "best buy" in our books.

When we first looked at this door we weren't sure it would work for our largest cat (25 lbs.). We were wrong. He is able to get in and out just fine. The fact that this door isn't the standard white is also a big plus.

I have had this cat door installed in a sliding glass door application (from Patio Pacific) for about 5 years. It is great because we have a large screened-in porch off our kitchen and the cats can go in and out to the porch at their whim. In the winter, we can keep the sliding glass door closed with the patio door panel in place and the cats can still have their freedom. It is not completely airtight, even with the added "draft-stopper", but unless it is extrememly cold or windy, it is not too bad. I just called the company where I had purchased the whole thing to get a replacement flap - the fuzzy weather stripping is beginning to degrade. I was able to order a new one from them for a nominal charge of $9.95 (+shipping). I also needed to order the red locking clips and I was referred directly to the manufacturerer for those. I was able to purchase those for $4.50 (+Shipping).
All in all, I am happy with the product.

Impressed with the quality of this item especially for the reasonable price. Works perfectly and the brown color is great - it doesn't call attention to itself in the bedroom door where I installed it. The template and instructions were good. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's made to "self line" but only up to 1/2", which is way thinner than standard for residence interior. So if you have a hollow door, you have to improvise something to seal it off. I played around with flexible plastic but ended up just using duct tape, which has been working just fine for over four months now. If I need another cat door at some point, I would look for another one just like this.

Wifes cat wouldn't shut the hell up! He's old and a little senile and either wanted in or out ALL the time. I felt like a butler. And he doesn't have a sweet little kitty meow. It's like the death squall of Azrael. But this has restored my sanity. Took him 3 days to get used to but now he comes and goes as pleases. Thank You!

Not sure how to review this. The item was nice-looking and I liked that it was dark in color and wouldn't stand out like the white ones do. I also like the smoked flap. However, the flap hinge immediatley broke and item had to be returned. Nice appearance, may have gotten a flawed door, but it was not durable.

This cat door is fairly well made, not perfect but gets the job done, my complaint would be that it doesn't fit on normal inside doors that are over 1" thick. I installed it on the door going from my kitchen to the basement as I keep my cats food in the basement and this allows the cats to get to it and keeps the dog out. I had to go out to the hardware store and find screws of the exact length to make this fit my standard size inside door and there is also a gap between the two pieces where you can see the inside of the door. Other than that its nice with the lock on it I can lock it from either direction so if I want to keep the cats in the basement I can or if I dont want them to go in the basement I can lock it the other way or I can lock it so it wont go either way!
