4.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Purr
Get this book if you love cats. You will enjoy it. You need to love cats to understand the deep bonding that exists between an owner and his cat. You will enjoy reading about all those little cat-things that might be shrugged off by other people. I call it The Power of Purr. If you don't love cats... well, then also get the book and read it - it might just convert...

3.0 out of 5 stars quick read
The story was sweet and interesting once you get past writer's format. chapter breaks are every 2-3 pages, which disrupts the flow. Writer also, at first, seemed too intent on being 'cute' in chapter headings, but as the story got going, was very sweet and nice "love" story of someone who is not a cat lover.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Purr, October 28, 2008
This review is from: A Cat Named Squeeky (Paperback)
Get this book if you love cats. You will enjoy it. You need to love cats to understand the deep bonding that exists between an owner and his cat. You will enjoy reading about all those little cat-things that might be shrugged off by other people. I call it The Power of Purr. If you don't love cats... well, then also get the book and read it - it might just convert you. Otherwise you can still give it away to someone who loves cats. Believe me, they will be grateful.

This story of a stray cat reminds me a little of Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World, which I highly recommend as your next reading. And to better understand what makes some cats go astray read Quest for Freedom in the first book of Boszenna Nowiki's cat series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, touching, and sad...., January 18, 2008

I am an animal lover and specifically a cat lover, so this may be a /bit/ of a biased review. This book is an enjoyable, well written and fast read. Anyone who lives with cats will especially enjoy it, as it explains a non-pet person's adoption of and deep bonding with a stay cat. Reading the author's perplexed reactions to the odd and funny quirks of a cat is very entertaining. It is very reminiscent of Cleveland Avery's "The Cat Who Came For Christmas" 3 book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming & Lots of Love, November 5, 2008
This review is from: A Cat Named Squeeky (Paperback)
This book catches your attention from the very start. Anyone that has ever owned a cat knows that this is exactly how they act.
I loved the way that Squeeky won the couple over and they didn't even know what was happening. This was a great book. I couldn't put it down.
Thanks to the authors for letting me get to know Squeeky and them.
I have 1 cat and 2 dogs and just had a dog pass away last year so I know how they feel. It was well written and you feel like you are right there with Squeeky and the famly. Great job

5.0 out of 5 stars Squeeky, August 8, 2008
This review is from: A Cat Named Squeeky (Paperback)
I read this book in short amount of time. Enjoyed it so much, I picked it up two days later and re-read entire book. Very funny, witty, kinda sad. If you have cats you love, as I do, you feel every feeling the author conveys to you as he tells his story. My two cats, 11 & 12 years old, rolled into one would be a "Squeeky". It would have been an honor to have known her.

This is such a sweet story of a sweet cat called Squeeky who "yammered" her way into the heart and home of the author and his wife.
Cat lovers will surely understand the bond between cat and human.. and the funny quirks cats have and how we spoil them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Squeeky Was A Little Character, December 24, 2008
By
This review is from: A Cat Named Squeeky (Paperback)
I only wish I could have met Squeeky. What a little character she must have been. "A Cat Named Squeeky" will make you realize that all of us who love cats and have them as pets go through the same good times and unfortunately the same bad times. There's nothing more heartbreaking than having to have a beloved pet put to sleep because they're in pain and/or there's just nothing the veterinarian can do to heal them. I've been down the same road as Vic and Cindy when Squeeky was diagnosed with Renal Failure (kidney disease). All you can do is make those last months comfortable for them. All in all, a very good book.

This book is surely a winner. After taking in a stray last year after our 18 year old cat died, this book surely touched my heart strings. This cat surely won the hearts the couple who took it in. It's written as a fast reader and I had a hard time putting it down.
It's cute, warm and sad all wrapped up into a ball of fur.

If you liked reading Dewey, get this book as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Fell In Love With Squeeky!, February 13, 2009
This review is from: A Cat Named Squeeky (Paperback)
When I first opened this book, I wasn't sure I was going to like it, simply because it seemed 'choppy' with all the chapters...but I soon changed my mind. I have never laughed so hard reading a book in my life! Just picturing everything this cat did & all the 'talking' she did, I almost peed my pants! I have experienced my cats bringing me their 'catch of the day', dead or alive, & the author captured every detail. This was truely well written because I felt like I was a fly-on-the-wall while all this was going on. Grant it, there's no good ending to a real pet story because we all know that they don't live long enough. But the description applied to this ending said it all & it didn't carry on for several pages. Yes, I totally bawled my eyes out but this was so worth the read! I think this is not only a fast read but it sucks you in & doesn't let go...all the way to the end.

This was an enjoyable read over a couple afternoons. A true story of how an animal can win a human's love. What a great cat...what great humans!

4.0 out of 5 stars a lovely book, October 28, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

As a dog person turned cat lover, I enjoyed this book very much. One must consider in all true life pet stories, the ending is always a heart breaker simply because our pets have such short life spans. Although Mr. Reskovic is not an exceptional writer, he writes earnestly and with great love, and Squeeky comes to life for the reader to enjoy all her quirks and eccentricities.
