We REALLY are cat people in this house that we share with 3 felines! After wearing out our CD of Daniel Kirk's Dogs Rule and loving it so, we eagerly awaited his ode to kitties. I have to say, we were disappointed. The poems/lyrics aren't as clever or catchy as "Dogs". Maybe it will grow on us? If you haven't heard/read Dogs Rule, it's awesome- try it! Cat Power just isn't as good, but there's something about Kirk's singing voice that's great no matter what he's singing.

My daughters love to read this book. It is full of poems about cats. It has a CD too but we rarely listen to it. A few of the poems though are a bit on the depressing side so I recommend pre-reading if you don't want your kids being read anything sad. That said, the girls aren't affected adversely by it when those poems are read to them.

(They are 5 and 2 for those needing an age reference).

This is the greatest book and CD for the young reader for reading and listening on his/her own or sharing with their favorite adult, reading together. My grandson discovered this author while using the library and loved it so much I bought him his own copy. The poems are cute, the music is catchy and the artwork of cats is adorable!!

My 7-year-old daughter got this from the library and after repeated renewals with no sign of waning interest, I bought it for her for Christmas. The poems are just hilarious and really capture the essence of cats--perfect for my cat-crazy daughter. My daughter also loves the CD where the poems are put to music. She sings them all day long. This is definitely an author that knows cats and knows what kids like. I recommend this for the cat-loving kids in your life.

I actually found this book in a drugstore bargain bin and thought it looked good for my niece. She's not American but she's in English classes. Of course, it comes with a CD, which was a real selling point for me. This way she can learn songs and poetry and her parents (who don't speak English at all) don't have to worry about reading along with her. She's 7 and so far she's been having a ball. I'm going to look in to other books by this author too.

Some of the words are a little advanced, but the artwork is just adorable and helps her understand what is going on in the poems/songs. The Vet one especially was a hoot--I almost showed it to my cat's vet before I sent it to my niece.

This book is a real steal for the price I paid for it and the price being charged here. I feel we have gotten more than our money's worth with it.

This book is fantastic! I am a Mom and a teacher. The poems are creative and hilarious. My daughter has loved reading the book over and over again. The CD is okay, just think of it as an extra. And if you know a cat lover, this is the perrrrfect gift.

This bood is an awesome way to spend a half hour with your kids or grandkids. It's well written, the music is fun and the illistrations are awesome. I highly recommend this book.
