About the Author
Virginia Kroll does not do her writing in a secluded cabin or an ivory tower, but in her own home that bustles with the activities of her six children and other members of the household--including many pets. She is also a prolific writer, at least in the very early hours of the morning when everyone else is asleep. The strength of her compassion and perception come through in her four books published by Dawn: Motherlove, With Love to Earth's Endangered Peoples, Cat! and When God Made the Tree. K. Dyble Thompson enjoys watching people of all kinds--young and old, working and at play. In her art, she loves to play with puns and show silly scenarios. She has a degree in fine arts from the University of Milwaukee. In addition to her book illustrations, she is known as a muralist and pavement artist. She provided the beautiful illustrations for Because Brian Hugged His Mother and Cat!

My daughter received this book as a gift when she was a year old. Being totally fascinated with felines, she fell in love with it. The illustrations show a variety of different breeds, and as she's grown, she has begun to understand the differences. The poem is very cute, and she enjoys listening to it. Some of the cat facts are quite interesting and I'm sure as she gets older she will appreciate them more!
