Book Description

a short story collection from NY Times and USA Today best selling author Cat Johnson

Black Cat
Lar has existed as a cat for a thousand years, with all the discomforts and indignities that go along with it. But when he’s adopted by Belinda and wakes up no longer a cat, but as a man and in her bed, can his curse finally be at an end? For more about the characters of Grace and Donna from Black Cat, look for Just Desserts by Cat Johnson.

Friends With Benefits
Meg thinks she’s getting the best of both worlds when she and her friend Jeff decide to start having sex with no strings attached, until Meg suddenly finds that, strings or not, she’s become attached to Jeff. The question is, does Jeff feel the same, or is there a new woman in his life?

The last thing Brad wants to do is attend leadership school over the 4th of July holiday. How could the Army think it was a good idea to schedule training in Georgia in July? When his roommate Joe suggests they go see the fireworks and they run into Mary Jo, Joe’s first love there, Brad soon realizes things are only going to get a whole lot hotter. Especially once he discovers that Joe likes to share.

The Soldier and the Siren
After having his heart torn out by a Dear John letter while deployed, David returns home without much hope of things getting better. Then he heard her voice and his whole world changed.

The Rookie (a Studs in Spurs series deleted scene)
This 2,500 word deleted scene from Bucked (Studs in Spurs, Book 2) features Mustang, Chase and one lucky woman who gets to know them better. It’s not a complete story, nor is it a happily-ever-after romance, but it is a smoking hot threesome scene fans of the series, and readers of Bucked will love.

Eight Second Ride (a Studs in Spurs series short story)
Young pro bull rider Chase Reese learns a lesson about women the hard way, but makes a friend in the process in this high energy, action packed 3,000 word single scene. Written as a "thank you" to the fans of the Studs in Spurs series who requested more of Chase. See more of Chase and his fellow bull riders Slade and Mustang in the Studs in Spurs series by Cat Johnson and don’t miss Chase’s book Ride (Studs in Spurs, Book 3).

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad this was free November 4, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the first story in this collection, but I felt it was still too short to begin to care about the characters and want to learn more. The other stories were just too short and uninteresting. This collection was free and I don't think I will purchase any of the authors books based on these stories.

AWFUL!!! was going to give at least one star more..but it's just not worth it..i liked the 1st
story..the Cat was very amusing and interesting..and sadly even though it was really short..
too short to do the idea of the story justice ,it sadly was longer than some of the others...some of the others
weren't soo much as stories as unfinished called the Soldier and the Siren i just some poor
Soldier coming home after being dumped in a letter ...comes home has a racy dream about a sexy voice on the
radio and then races to meet her the next day...that's it? WTH? I couldn't believe that was it..that wasn't a story
that was AN IDEA FOR A STORY!!! i know short stories are well short..... but there needs to enough there to at least
MAKE A STORY!!!.. off to delete it..

1.0 out of 5 stars What a shame! November 6, 2014
By Shyla
Format:Kindle Edition
There was only the one story, which was the first one that was even a little but good. The Cat story started out wonderful however it was cut way too short making me feel like I missed something. I hate to say this about any author but the rest of the stories were not worth reading and I wont be reading anymore from this author. I never like leaving anything negative but this time I just dont have anything nice to say. Makes me sad.

Was surprised at some of the reviews....a snipet is a sample of must not have understood.
But even tho this is short I did enjoy what I read of each story.
Each bite of story was enjoyable and well written.
My first of Cat Johnsons stories but see what a good writer she is. Will be checking out all her books to find one for me.
Really like that Cat took the chance to put these snipets out so people could get a feel for her writing. Love some good ole cowboy's. Nice work!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet February 21, 2014

They were well written and simple. I didn't feel lost or confused. I would not mind to read some of them if they were full books. I will be looking for more books from this author and telling my friends and family about her.

5.0 out of 5 stars nice mix of entertaining stories November 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved the black cat ! The story starting in ancient times made it very unusual and I very much enjoyed the humor with what the cat did to the men she dated. Always enjoy Cat's cowboy stories too! A great group of books for someone to get to know Cat's writings.
