Not A Bad Publication,

The previous reviewer gave this publication an unfair review. I work in a "no kill" shelter and many, many people do not know about sticky tape, covered litter boxes, etc. The articles are written so everyone can read and understand them, and contain a great deal of useful information. Also, not all shelters are "kill" shelters. One just has to make a few phone calls or jump on the web to find them.

This magazine is okay, but like a previous reviewer said, it often states the obvious. It does not have very many "hard-edged" articles. It is often too "matter of fact", and too careful not to make judgments. It never makes recommendations you couldn't guess yourself, and always tells you to ask your vet before doing anything beyond common sense. Even when it cannot make recommendations without examination of the cat, it does not fully explain all of the possibilities and their consequences for your cat -- it just says "see your vet". It intentionally avoids mentioning products by brand, to avoid the appearance of endorsement, even if there might be something good (or bad) to say about a particular product.
I think "Catnip" is better.

Fraudulent billing,
This review is from: CatWatch (Magazine)
Excellent information contained in this publication. It is published by Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine Feline Health Center. Therefore I was recently appalled when their circulation director tried to rip me off for $24.My checking account records clearly showed that the balance had been paid several weeks prior to him pulling that stunt.
When I catch somebody trying to steal from me I'm afraid we no longer have a working relationship, and I cancelled my subscription.Really a shame, because Catwatch posts a lot of information that guardians of cats need.

A Must For All Cat Owners,
By
This review is from: CatWatch (Magazine)
I have always had house cats and especially appreciated the article on how to catch them when they manage to escape. I have a lot of health issues and my cat is very important to me and your magazine helps me know how to take the best possible care of her. She gets regular vet visits as well as lots of love and care at home. Thanks for your hard work.

I highly recommend CatWatch to anyone who owns/cares for a cat or cats. There are always interesting articles to read each month. The writing style is concise and to the point and easy for most to understand in layman's terms. There is a good variety of topics discussed.

Waste of money,

This review is from: CatWatch (Magazine)
I was very disappointed and angered with this publication. Only if you are a very naive cat person could you find anything useful reading this garbage. Supposedly this is written by vets and maybe a behavorist or two. The info written on cats' health was things any cat owner would already know and things about cats' behavior was also very simplistic and elementary. Things like putting sticky tape on your couch to avoid damage from the cat's scratching or not using covered litterboxes since they trap odors and can make the cat not want to use it. Duh!!! Who didn't know that. What made me very upset was the article written by one of their vets about stray cats and it told readers to "humanely" trap these cats and take it to a shelter. Every person knows these cats will end up dead at the shelter and for a caring cat magazine who acts as if it's concerned about the well being of cats, should NOT be teaching people how to do inhumane things to other cats just because they have no home. I wrote them a letter saying how disappointing it was to see such an article in their magazine and not surprising they didn't print it or even respond back to me. I am a caring cat person and I shredded my free sample of it.
