I bought this lamp after searching at WalMart, Staples, and a couple of other stores. I was looking for a desk lamp with plenty of light to replace an incandescent desk lamp that created too much heat in my office where I have two computers running all day. While I was somewhat put off by the high shipping costs, when purchased through Amazon it was still more economical than the lamps I had looked at locally. It has been perfect. It is large enough to provide all the light I need for my large corner desk and it has useful holders for pens, tape, post-its, paperclips, etc. I received my order quickly and it was packed so as to insure there was no damage. In summary, it has exceeded my expectations. The lamp is more useful and was less expensive (even with $11 shipping costs) than any product I was able to find locally.

Very nice desk lamp. Provides good amount of lighting without being too bright. It is organizational and keeps everything right at your fingertips. It is a little on the large side. If you have a small desk this will be too big. I put it on top the 2 drawer filing cabinet right next to my desk. It's working out perfectly.

My wife wanted a fluorescent lamp to use for the piano. This one was more reasonably priced than the other lamps (everything else, both on Amazon or at brick and mortar stores was much more expensive). We ordered this one.

The lamp came securely packaged. Now it is entirely possible that I am a bonehead, but I could not get the lamp/neck assembly into the base. The way the base was constructed had guiding slots and then little plastic clips inside that theoretically should have snapped into the holes in the neck/lamp assembly to secure it. I could not slide the assembly past the plastic clips because they weren't rounded or flexible enough so they acted more as a blocking element. Again, maybe this was my own failure to do it properly, but there were no instructions as to how to do this and normally I don't have any trouble assembling things.

FYI, the base and the part that (is supposed to) connect to the base are made of plastic. The whole lamp looks okay and I suppose that is why it is less expensive than the other models available - it's decent for the price but not terribly attractive.

As for how the lighting is, I don't know because I didn't take the bulb out of the wrapping since I couldn't get the base to install properly. To the credit of the vendor (not Amazon - their price is more than 2x the marketplace vendor), they issued me an RMA right away but since I just shipped the lamp back a few days ago, I don't know what the refund experience will be like yet.
