5.0 out of 5 stars A strong story for a strong character, November 29, 2008

This review is from: The Catalyst (Doctor Who: The Companion Chronicles, 2.4) (Audio CD)
The Catalyst is really two stories at once. It is the tale of past as Leela tells of an encounter in her travels with the Doctor with a previous companion and his family. An unknown companion from likely his first incarnation. It is also the story of Leela in her "Present Day" imprisoned and preparing to die.

Louise Jameson is a fine stage actress and it shows as she does several voices and three characters for the tale without any weakness of the performance.

The inherent conflict between the values of a timelord and of a human are apparent as Leela actions result in the release of a foe from the Doctor's and his host's past with disastrous results.

The Companion Chronicles series have really been growing on me and Jameson really makes a strong addition to the set.

This one is a keeper.
