Works sometimes,

I've used this on a car that had the rotten egg smell and it cleaned up nicely. I used it on a car with no smell but a engine code indicating a low efficiency catalytic converter and it didn't work. For the price versus the cost of replacing the cat, it's worth a shot.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer with 204,000 mi. The check engine light indicated a catalytic converter issue. I ultimately used 2 cans and drove about 150 highway miles in 2 days and the light went out and has stayed out for a couple of months now - pretty cheap solution.

This Suff Works,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Catalytic Converter Cleaner (16 oz.)
All I can say is that this suff worked and it worked rather fast. My 1999 Honda Accord w/ 106,000 miles had its CEL come on. Autozone coded it as either an oxygen sensor or catalytic converter fault. With inspection looming, I did not want to throw money at this problem. One can into the gas tank of this product resulted in the light going off, and, more importantly, staying off.

Cat Cleaner,

This has been around for a while and is USUALLY effective. I have used it before. Use it BEFORE clogging problems or it may not work. Use it as preventative maintenance. Every 6,000 miles, put in one or two cans in the gas tank or carburetor before problems start and you should be fine. Avoid excessive ZDP(ZDDP) in modern motors as well, although some is not bad either(classic cars of the 70's and earlier NEED ZDDP A LOT). Excessive ZDP in modern vehicles causes clogging in the catalytic converter after 50,000 to 80,000 miles, even though that is a long time. Cat Cleaner by SolderIt does not contain ZDP. It cleans bad odor and "crud" from excessive ZDDP and other things in the catalytic converter. 'Nuff said.

If you try to clean something while throwing dirt at it, you'll never get it clean.
That's what happens if you try to clean a cat converter without fixing the reason why it got dirty in the first place. In my case bad spark plug wires allowed fuel to pass through engine unburned. The unburned fuel clogged my original cat converter with 226k miles. My mechanic wanted to replace the converter, instead I replaced the bad wires ($30) and put two cans of this in the fuel, and a third in air intake with engine warmed up at fast idle (per instructions on can). I drove 100 miles and truck got better the more I drove. I'm out of this stuff now, but running with 93 octane and truck is still getting better the more I drive.

I used this product in my 06 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 V-8. I have had a malfunction code for the catalytic converter on one side not working properly. If I clear the code it comes back in a few miles. I used this product as directed and it made no change.

Car ran smoother but did not eliminated my Check Engine light.
I had to eventually install an O2 sensor B1S1 which I also bought on Amazon. That did the trick for the Engine Light. My wife did note however that it did make the car run smoother.
