This isn't necessarily an expansion of Settlers of Catan, but is described as a variant to the game. The 5-6 player expansion is just that. Allows more people to be varied. I definitely recommend Traders & Barbarians for Catan enthusiasts, but if you're just building out your expansion packs, start with Seafarers and get yourself good and bored with that first!

This expansion gives more scenarios to the Catan game. The author recommends you try the scenarios using the Original Catan Island... but if you have the Seafarer Expansion, you can use it too...

I like the 'Fisherman of Catan' scenarios. You can pay with FISH!

Catan is one of the games we have that has best stood the test of time amongst us and our gaming friends. We like to try a lot of new games, but we always love coming back to Catan. The game is fairly well balanced, and after a game or two you can know the game pretty well in and out. If you play with somebody who knows the game it is not too bad to get started. Once you are familiar with the game, there are a lot of different variations you can add to mix things up a little. I highly recommend this game to anybody who likes to have game nights with their friends.

The expansion for 5-6 players is a welcome extension to the traders and barbarians expansion of Catan.

If you have a large crew as I do this piece if vital if you want to be able to get use of your base expansion.

Only minor rules tweaks are necessary and are easily adapted. So the additions will not hurt the flow of the play at all.

If you have the crew for it, you will want this product, if not then it can be passed by.

This Game Rocks. Catan is so much fun to play and anyone I can get to play it is instantly hooked. The Traders and Barbarians expansion is the most complex expiation and probably my least favorite to play. But with that in mind, it is stall a lot of fun.

My only complaint about the company who makes the game is, why would you not create a new insert specifically for the game? They re-use the Catan base plastic insert in all of the other versions of Dominion.

Catan is addictive. Challenges one to really strategize. Gave a set to family friends who played seven games over the Labor Day weekend. Their high school age kids now get their homework done fast so they can play CATAN. Our daughter and her husband hosted a CATAN party with three friends (who didn't know one another before)but are all avid players The game encourages players to focus and have fun. A real winner. Giving out sets for as gifts.

I am addicted to this game and so are many of my friends. Between us we have all the expansions and extentions to it. Thank you Amazon, or should you be thanking me? It provides hours of fun and is a must for people who love more strategic games. I am buying the child's version for my grandchildren for Christmas along with some other games recommended by Amazon after reading the reviews.

The best aspects of Traders and Barbarians are the event cards and fishing. Harbormaster has become a staple as well (and a Fishmonger card I created). The other scenarios can be a lot of fun and a nice change up, but once you have fishing, harbormaster and event cards they will quickly become part of your core set. The 5-6 player extension is just more to love.
