Gr. 1^-3. Most's subjects are animals named after other animals, such as catbirds, spider monkeys, and rabbit fish. Facing each page of text is a fanciful illustration of an animal, with a small picture of the actual animal appearing on the text page. The illustrations of the real animals are less memorable than those of the make-believe ones, and it's the imaginative pictures little ones will probably remember best. Older children, particularly the more scientifically minded, will also be impressed by the interesting animal facts that Most includes.
