Product Description

Single thirty-something Marissa, though beautiful and talented, is becoming increasingly skeptical about romance because every man in her life has been a cheater. She creates a website dedicated to exposing serial cheaters, but instead her website ushers back into her life her first boyfriend from adolescence, and he is determined to show her that a man can be true.

4.0 out of 5 stars To Catch a Cheat, June 16, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Marissa Kincaid, Amy Brooks, and Candi Moody were best friends and partners in an Internet magazine Atlanta Tell All. It was a magazine geared toward women, and the issues that they were interested in. They were determined to make it successful, and were well on their way. Marissa was pretty lucky in business, but not very lucky in love as it turns out. She really had high hopes for current flame Jamie Abernathy until she saw him kissing another man in living color.

When her latest disaster in love erupted, and those awful feelings started to settle in, she decided that she had had enough. Marissa was sick of women always getting dumped and dumped on. In retaliation she along with co conspirators Amy, and Candi set up another Internet site The Guy Cheats. That way unsuspecting women could check on potential mates before they got hurt and too invested in a relationship. Marissa added her disasters first to let others know they were not alone. She started with a boy that had dumped her in favor of another in junior high. She wanted this site not only to help women but to also help them laugh. She really didn't have any harsh feelings toward Trent Jackson, but she had to start somewhere.

Trent was independently wealthy, but just started his own online magazine Die Hard Atlanta targeting men, and subjects they were interested in. He wanted to do something on his own that didn't involve his family name or wealth. When his friend and financial advisor Keith Parker alerted him to his notoriety on Atlanta Tell All and The Guy Cheats, he decided some competition was called for, and launched rival site called The Girl Lies starring none other than Marissa.

This was a very emotional read at sometimes, but at others, laugh out loud funny. Marissa had a lot of baggage to get rid of with her past remaining unresolved. She had experienced more than her share of hurt between the men in her life, and the constant betrayal by her father. Trent knew exactly what he wanted, and never gave up. He is a force to be reckoned with, and he battles well with Marissa. Great couple with lots of appeal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read from the title to the end, November 9, 2007

Marissa Kincaid wanted love. She didn't want to be cheated on again and again. Now that she has found out that she has been cheated on by yet another boyfriend, she's had enough. Marissa decides to create a website called TheGuyCheats.com, a database of cheaters to warn other women of their philandering ways. She starts her list with the first guy who ever cheated on her, a man named Trent Jackson. Sure he was only thirteen years old and it's been a long time, but he is the one who started it all.

Trent Jackson is all grown up and the CEO of Jackson Enterprises. After googling his name and finding himself listed on the cheating database, he decides to strike back and gain some publicity while he's at it. Trent creates TheGirlLies.com, a database of girls who lie. Marissa and Trent engage in an Internet war between their two websites and gain a lot of attention from the media.

When a popular radio show hears about them, they are invited to the show for a taping. This means Marissa would have to see Trent for the first time since they were thirteen years old. She wasn't prepared for this, but something else is going to shock her even more. The radio show has issued a challenge for Marissa and Trent. The challenge has an excellent prize that will help Marissa's career but her true feelings threaten to put a bump in the road for her.

To Catch a Cheat is a hilarious, sexy, romantic story about never giving up on finding true love. Marissa and Trent's interactions together are intense and you can't help but want them to end up together. The story moves along at a fast pace with a delightfully clever storyline that is sure to keep you glued to the pages.

Kelly St John explores the topics of love and cheating with the grace of a gifted writer. I adored the characters and the story in TO CATCH A CHEAT and I think you will too.

Armchair Interviews Says: A truly romantic and funny story that is sure to be a best seller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh..., June 19, 2009
Marissa Kincaid is sick of dating cheaters! She's decided to fight back by launching a web site devoted to identifying serial cheaters. As a joke, she lists the very first cheater she encountered as a junior high student. Little does she realize that Trent Jackson is now the CEO of a major corporation and the sole owner of a magazine he wants to expand into print. Marissa's site may add just the touch of publicity he needs. There's only one little problem... Trent also wants Marissa to fall in love with him. Can Marissa overcome her fear of cheaters and commit to Trent?

TO CATCH A CHEAT is an entertaining albeit overly long story. There were moments of hilarity as the concept of the two competing websites is quite funny. I also enjoyed the competition hosted by the radio show as it was easy to envision just that sort of thing happening. However, the plot seemed to drag at places and it was hard not to just skim some of the pages. Perhaps a little less sexual innuendo and a little more character development might have boosted the plot.

Marissa is a hard character to like. Her behavior seems a bit juvenile and it is only the ending that redeems her overall. Trent, on the other hand, is a very likable hero. Admittedly, writing a story about a woman who dates serial cheaters and still making her seem feisty and independent isn't an easy task at all. Readers who like a lighthearted story with lots of sexual innuendos will probably appreciate this story a bit more than this reviewer.
