More About the Author

Laura began writing at the ripe old age of 12 when she penned a romance about a model falling for her photographer on a catalogue shoot in St. Thomas. Up until page 42, she faithfully wrote at least a page a day, but gave up when following her own junior high romantic pursuits became more fun than writing about someone else's!

Fast-forward a few years, and Laura met the love of her life her freshman year at the University of Arkansas. Three years and countless toga parties later, Laura and Terry married.

Interior design and marriage license in hand, Laura went to work for well-known Arkansas firms, Perry Butcher Architects and Albert Skiles Architects. Among her many projects were schools, churches, corporate offices and over two dozen luxurious private residences. She'd just been handed a dream assignment of designing her first public library when another dream came true -- she discovered she wasn't just pregnant, but pregnant with twins!

Destiny soon put a twist in Laura's burgeoning career by adding complications to her pregnancy. Two months in, doctors placed her on bed rest. Seven months later, her life forever changed upon getting her first glimpse of precious boy/girl twins. She briefly considered returning to work, but couldn't fight the desire to stay home with her brood.

Two years later, while she loved being a stay-at-home mom, a part of herself had been lost in the process. Then one day, while sorting through dusty boxes, she came across her old romance manuscript. In finding that manuscript, along with her love of writing, fate gave Laura's life another twist, and she's never looked back.

Since then, Terry's engineering career has taken the family to places like Denver, Salt Lake City, and then on to Tulsa, OK, where she now resides. Throughout all of those moves, Laura never lost sight of her ultimate dream -- to become a world-renowned romance author. While she's still hard at work on that "world-renowned" part of her dream, to date she's sold over seventy romantic short stories and many romance novels.

Now, Laura spends her days contentedly writing and chasing after the twins and their menagerie of pets, ranging from a mutt named Sweet Pea, a mini-long-haired dachshund named Cocoa, a black-and-white stealth cat named Domino and a yard full of ducks and geese who live in the backyard pond but would like to live in the house! When night falls, Laura usually finds time to steal a few romantic moments for herself and her own hunky cover stud!

Laura loves hearing from readers and may be reached via email at BaliPalm@aol.com or snail mail at P.O. Box 2074, Tulsa, OK 74101.

4.0 out of 5 stars #4 of the U.S. Marshal Series - Adam Logue, September 30, 2008

This review is from: To Catch A Husband (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
A bit of a disappointment. You would think that in their 30's Adam and Charity would be a bit more mature.

I really do like the whole series and their characters - U.S. Marshal Gillian Logue and Joe -- U.S. Marshal Caleb Logue and the Judge Allie -- brother, Beau and the chef, pregnant Gracie - now Adam Logue and fellow Marshal, Charity better known as "Bug".

Only two of the books had any real action [or danger].
The hang-ups of the characters were handled exceedingly well.
But the pre-marital sex is getting so boring with losing the anticipation of falling in love it becomes the same O, same O.

But I read these books for the family involvement that is woven into the stories. The family interactions are great [except for Gillian having too much money].

I will share these books with other readers - not for my keeper shelf. As it is already excellently reviewed I thought to let out a few of my peeves - but am glad to have read this set of 4 and will recommend the set to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect comfort read!, August 16, 2006
This review is from: To Catch A Husband (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
U.S. Marshal Charity "Bug" Caldwell has been in love with fellow Marshal Adam Logue for what feels like forever. Of course, the two of them are best friends and Adam treats Bug as one of the guys. Part of that is Charity's fault. Ever since her twin brother died, Charity tried to take his place to help her father heal. She's got a huge bug collection, hence her nickname, loves sports and did everything she could to become accepted as one of the guys. Right down to her current job. Charity is good at her job and always has been, right down to getting higher scores at marksmanship than Adam. Now, at thirty-five, Charity's biological clock has started ticking and she realizes she really does want a husband and children. Naturally, the object of her desires is totally oblivious.

Ever since the woman he was due to marry, Angela, died in his arms when he was protecting her, Adam hasn't really lived his life. He's merely existed. And since he shot a man during his last assignment while protecting Gillian, his brother's wife, he's been ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling. When he tries saying what he thinks his therapist wants to hear, she sees through him and tells him to go on a date. After a few terrible dates, Adam decides he should date Bug. After all, the two of them get along well, they're always together, she is a woman and what better way to fool his shrink?

When Charity finally goes to her sister to seek help, the first thing she does is turns Charity into a woman. No more baggy uniforms and sweats, Charity now dresses like a woman and even has her hair cut. Now that she appears like a woman, Adam is finally beginning to notice her as one.

Will the two of them "date" to fool Adam's shrink? Will Adam be able to let of his guilt over Angela and see what's right in front of him? Will the two of them have a chance together?

TO CATCH A HUSBAND is truly a heartwarming story. Once again, author Laura Marie Altom takes two wounded characters and brings them together in a way to leave us with the heartfelt sigh at the end. And is also typical of Laura Marie Altom, we even get some humor in the mix. I really love the way the whole Logue family decided to stick their collective noses into the "romance" between Charity and Adam and what they all did. Laura Marie Altom is one of my comfort read authors because I know when I finish a story she wrote, I'll always let out a heartfelt sigh at the end and know that true love does exist in the world.
