The interesting thing about this book is that I knew some of the characters. Having spent 32 years in law enforcement, I could relate to alot of Darryl's commentary. I have been in the pursuits and the foot chases with ASTREA overhead assisting. In one case I was watching a house while units gathered to arrest a murder suspect. ASTREA came overhead. The suspect came out to look at the helicopter. I walked up, unheard, and placed him under arrest. I loved that Darryl shared the good and the bad in his quest to become a fully certified ASTREA pilot. You too will get the feel that you are there in the seat as he learns, chases the bad guys and makes rescues. I highly recommend the book.

Kimball tells it like it is, though there is little doubt its a bit edited. It is great to read about a Deputy who apprecites his good fortune having attained a double dream - flying and being a cop. This is not an "I love me" book. Rather, Kimball encourages others to pursue the dream as well. Maybe after he retires he'll publish the rest of the story?

I started with a Sheriff's office air support unit last Fall (2011). So much of this book and Daryl's activities just resonated with me. I could see some of his experiences waiting for me, some I already had in the air and on the ground. Great book. Thanks for sharing and no doubt encouraging future air support officers.

I really enjoy books that describe someone's interesting profession, warts and all. This book kept me deeply absorbed. When it ended, I wanted more. I highly recommend this well-written book to everyone with even a casual interest in law enforcement and/or aviation.

What a fun read. Darryl's descriptions put me right back in the observer's seat the few times I flew with ASTREA. He was always a good writer. Great job, I really enjoyed the book.

Since I am familiar in police flight tactical officer duty in Europe (Slovenia), I found Darryl L. Kimball's story in police department very educational and interesting. I like american way where they have opportunity for transfering from police officer to TFO and pilot. I also understand him because he left aviation unit to seek for responsible decision for better payment. I really enjoy reading his book and I will remeber this book for a long long time. Primary reading for every police aviation member and fan.
