Catching Muskellunge: A Practical Guide is a no-holds barred book on muskie fishing techniques by a noted writer. This book is difficult to find but it's worth trying to find.
I found the author's copy to be straight forward, intelligently written, and with an excellent mix of how-to information and presented in an entertaining easy-to-read manner.
I've fished for muskies on and off for over 30 years, and have read many books on the topic, and I feel Smith's book is one of the best I've read. I learned about lure presentations, how to fish various types of lures, and how to mark a muskie's home area so you can return again and again to fish a known holding spot.
All too many muskie titles leave me feeling as if the author was more concerned about plugging the products of manufacturers than presenting a fair and unbiased look at what works and what does not. I like Smith's style, and wish he would write another muskie book. His techniques obviously work well, and my only complaint about this book is the poor quality photos. Sharper images would have better captured the flavor of this book.
Reading this book can mean the difference between success and failure, and for avid muskie fishermen, that can spell more strikes and bigger fish. I think this book is a winner, and should be in every muskie fisherman's personal library.

The book is well written and contains great muskie fishing techniques. The author shows a true understanding to the sport of muskie fishing. He not only shows a true understanding which only a pro can have but also with pictures of the monsters he has caught, showing just how effective he really is. A great buy for a true fisherman or someone just getting started.

The book is well writen and contains an understanding of the actual fishing that only a master can have. The author not only show his understanding but also pictures of the monsters he has caught. The book is a great read for beginners and pros alike.
