The complete opposite of "Catchmaster 908 GLOstik Flying Insect Trap' (read my review) in that this Catchmaster product actually works, and it works well. Easy to set up, maintain, and just plug it in to use or unplug to turn off. In fact, it works so well, that in less than a months time I may have to replace the adhesive paper in it (at least one spare is included) due to it becoming so overcrowded. it apparently holds up well against dust as well, otherwise i don't think it would continue to collect as many buggers as it does. Despite it not having an on/off switch (nor any switch for that matter) --whether a pro or a con to you-- it's still an exceptional quality for the price. Just look at it, nice bright fluorescent light to attract wanderers, as opposed to it's evil brother (the 908 GLOstik) which emits a phantom gleam to frighten weary travelers away. That's rich.

I bought this "on sale" and the big orange home improvement store for the same price that amazon.com is selling it for here with Prime free shipping. I'm buying another one today for my down stairs kitchen.

I have been plagued this summer with some sort of gnat in my kitchen. They seem to be everywhere in my house now and the only thing that seemed to catch them prior to my purchase of this unit, was the PIC STIK which is also sold here. I put some honey in the bottom cup of the PIC STIK as suggested in the instructions and WOW....the gnats came a calling !

I plugged this in last night before bed, sprayed down both sinks with Lysol Hydrogen Peroxide Kitchen Cleaner (which also kills the gnats if you catch them on your counter top or in your sink if you are fast enough to spray them) and went to bed.

Usually I am "greeted" with swarms literally of the gnats in the morning. Not so t his morning, so I reached in and pulled out the black glue board behind the UV light. It was FULL of the nasty gnats. Dead and stuck to the glue board just overnight. I really didn't think I had that many flying around but I guess the light attracted them from all over this main level since it was the only light source on this floor. I am impressed !!! I could see that various sizes of the gnats were killed. I had 1 adult gnat that was flying around and I soon killed it in the sink with the Lysol. So far no gnats flying around.

SO......based on my personal experience, this is a winner and as I said in the beginning, I'm ordering another one....but from amazon.com instead.

Thankfully these gnats or whatever the hell they are, soon die off with the cold weather. Winter cannot come too soon in these North Georgia Mountains !!!

The bulb started to dim after a few weeks of operation, and failed completely after one month. It didn't catch many bugs during the time it did work either.

Like most devices I have tried that require flies to crawl through holes, it doesnt work well. Catches most other flying insects well. I leave the front cover off so it will catch flies also.

This is a scam. I closed the mosquito in the room with the Silent Trap Flying Insect Trap for 2 days. I used the rest of the house and did not encounter the mosquito once. When I returned to the room the mosquito was rested and thirsty. Buy a fly swatter.

This product did not catch any bugs for me. They do get attracted to the light but they do not go inside the grill to get caught on the sticky pad especially if it's a big mosquito. The big mosquito can't fit through the grill. Also, there is no on and off switch. You have to unplug this unit every time to turn it off. I would suggest getting something that has a suction fan that draws the bug in or just use the good old reliable electric zappers. This product did not work for me at all.

I tried this item for catching fruit fly sized insects. I have large parrots, and these are flies that feed off the feces of the bird droppings. I think they travel in with the seed I buy in large bags. I use ordinary fly paper strips, and while somewhat effective, I was looking for something more. These flies are too small to be effectively killed by the standard electrified bug zappers because the electric grid is much too large for these tiny flies, so I thought the light and sticky paper concept might work. While it caught a few flies, the unit was far less effective than normal inexpensive fly paper rolls. I can buy 8 at WalMart for about two bucks, and they don't use any electricity. And something else I thought was weird about this unit. Below the light and sticky card is a catch tray. The catch try is easily removable for emptying of dead bugs. But, this is not a electric zapper, and therefore the only way a bug could end up in the catch tray would be to get stuck to the paper, then die, then fall off the sticky paper and fall into the tray. Never did figure that one out ! Sounds good in the promotional literature, but totally useless in the real world. I tried it for a week and not one bug in the tray.

I am not sure why people are having issues with this bug catcher. What a lot of people don't realize is that while overall this machine is awesome, it is hard to do it's job during the day when the sun is shining through the windows. Which a lot of insect catchers will do, but once the sun goes down, this thing works like a dream. I have had no issues with my insect catcher, insects fit just fine through the grate, every morning I wake up with no insects in my house.
