5.0 out of 5 stars These work! They attract and trap small food moths
These Catchmaster traps work. After first trying to use just a trap or two, I leaned not to skimp if you want quick results. Put a trap in every room, inside each food cabinet, and near exterior doors or other points of entry.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work compared to Biocare traps
Maybe I got a bad batch or something. I have place three traps in areas with at least 10 in each and not a single one has been caught. I bought some Biocare traps from Ace Hardware and they worked wonders. Two traps caught 50+ in 4 days! Of course they ended up getting full and so I decided to order some online with hopes of the same success. Nothing! Not even 1 indian...

These Catchmaster traps work. After first trying to use just a trap or two, I leaned not to skimp if you want quick results. Put a trap in every room, inside each food cabinet, and near exterior doors or other points of entry.

I buy a bundle of 12 or more for our three bedroom house, looking for the best buy at Amazon or at an Internet auction site. The traps are non-toxic and easy to assemble. You may need to wait a few days before seeing results, but you will be impressed by how many moths these trap over time.

Traps in rooms with exterior doors catch the most. I even put a trap in our fireplace because of the air entry from outside. The fireplace trap catches the most - 100+ moths in a couple months.

The traps use pheromone lures, and attract small, grey pantry moths. If you have an infestation, you will need one trap per cabinet with food. Don't neglect food storage areas: A moth in the TV room is annoying; a moth in your cereal is disgusting. I date the traps with a marker so I can quickly spot which traps are the oldest and might need to be thrown out. They seem to work for up to 4-5 months or so.

In bundles of 12 or more, the cost should be under $2 each including postage (2010 pricing). Highly recommended.

Of course they ended up getting full and so I decided to order some online with hopes of the same success. Nothing! Not even 1 indian meal moth was lured. Be warned. There is probably an expiration date on the lure and after being shelved for awhile it wears off.

I imagine the real problem is with the larvae infesting something in the house - but while I am still trying to solve that mystery, these traps are grabbing those little devils, two or three or more every day per trap. Are these annoying creatures Indian meal moths or another sort of insect? I don't know. The pantry items are stored in glass jars - and still the da*ned things flit to and fro every evening in the not-so gentle glow of the HDTV. But I just sit tight until they decide to check into the Moth Motel, where - as goes the slogan for some other product - they do not check out.

All I can say is WOW! We had pantry moths. Cleaned, trashed, and froze everything in site and also used these traps.
It filled up in short order with moths coming from who knows where. It only attracts the males so you still need to remove/vacuum up the females.

Don't put multiple traps too close together as it may confuse the moths as to which direction to go. I've got a couple of traps in the freezer to use later to make sure all the critters are accounted for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchmaster Moth Traps Really do Work !!!, April 9, 2009

I wrote a previous review on the traps in April 2009 stating the traps were not functioning. However by mid May 2009 and with more moths appearing, the traps became loaded with moths. A comment that I received from the prior posting may help explain why they are now working:

From Stargazer: "This particular type of trap attracts the males only, which interrupts the mating cycle. You likely were seeing female moths. Eventually the females die off and if they have not mated you won't see proliferation of the moths."

So we will continue to use them to help break the moth's reproductive cycle.

I bought several different moth traps and they all attract moths, but the Catchmaster traps are much stickier than the Safer brand and actually trap the moths much better. I am amazed at how the bait attracts the moths. I will buy more of this brand and probably not buy the Safer brand to replace the traps.

Like others have noted, my package arrived without the red square "lures." Without the pheromones of the lure, I may as well put scotch tape on my walls and hope that works.

It has been two days I put it out and still no moths around. There are so many of them flying around, at least one would hit there by random chance, but nothing. Sorry to spend my money on this product.

We don't want to resort to fogging the kitchen, so I bought these traps. I put it in the cabinet where some food (now discarded) was infected with moths and larvae. I actually saw a moth or two walk into the trap, but when I checked the trap after 24 hours it was empty. I moved it to a new location, and got the same result. Maybe the sticky stuff isn't sticky enough? The moths seem interested, but are not getting trapped. I have gone back to swatting the moths and will now resort to the more labor intensive taking apart of the pantry shelves, disinfecting and vacuuming, to make sure the area is clear.
