I have owned 3 pairs of these in the last 3 years. They are rugged and durable for the indoor manufacturing environment yet comfortable as well. I would recommend them for anyone that requires the protection of a steel toe but still needs a comfortable shoe for long periods of walking and standing on hard surfaces.

First off, I am not a construction worker who puts his hard toed boots through various rigorous situations, but an architect who is required to wear steel toe boots on site visits. The Caterpillar Diffuse Hiker's seemed like a perfect compromise for me, as I wanted something that wouldn't completely weigh me down, but also wouldn't look completely out of place with my business attire when on site. The shoes are constructed great, as expected with any Caterpillar product. I bought the boots with the hope to actually use them as a Hiker, when going on camping trips and treks. I've found that they are a bit on the stiff side, even after several wears, and am not sure that I will be using them on any strenuous hikes in the future. They are still a bit on the heavy side and more than I feel the need to use when venturing down the trail. However, on the occasion that I've needed something more durable than my tennis shoes or flip flops when working on a project in the shop or around the house, these have always been reliable!

I've been using this as my primary work footwear for the last 3 years. The steel toe is sufficient in covering enough of the front of the foot to withstand some tough hits and keep your foot safe. The wear is comfortable and if used daily it takes about 3-4 days to break them in. The only thing buyers should keep in mind is the eyelets... The eyelets arent rounded out enough in the holes so if you like to keep your boots tight to maximize support I would reccomend speed laces or a heavy duty corded lace, the factory laces usually strip out within the first month or two. Other than that, great boot!

I ordered this boot earlier this year because I got a very good deal on it. Pleasantly surprised, very comfortable and great to walk around in.

BIG disappointment however is the treads on this shoe.

If you are going to be working in a warehouse environment, I suggest looking at another type of shoe. Been wearing these shoes at my job for just about a year and treads are failing miserably. Beginning to slip around when I have to move products in the warehouse.

One other disappointment is the laces, I've had to buy replacement laces for these at least 3 times already.

Other than the previously stated issues, everything else with this shoe is good.

The best work shoe I have ever owned. I plan on buying another pair when these give out (which should't be long as hard as I am on shoes).

I have purchased 2 pairs of this exact boots over the past 2 years ,I am a 27 year old carpenter and mainly I bought these for the steel toe ,to protect my feet from when I have to work with heavy pieces of wood, also I wanted something more comfortable than a regular boot and something less conspicious ,so after browsing around I saw these and bought them ,and I'm reasonably happy with the purchase. To keep the review short ,here's a list of pros and cons

PROS:

*The style of these shoes is amazing ,I just love the way they look.

*A sturdy boot/shoe that offers average protection without sacrificing looks.

*They are really comfortable.

*Steel toe offers great protection

CONS:

*Depending on the job you have ,I'd say these boots have an average life span of 5 to 9 months and they are not meant for heavy duty jobs, while they offer protection to feet ,the shoe itself does not last long.

*The fabric they're made of ,it's not realiable ...stain ,thinner or glue can be removed but will leave noticeable marks. It also tends to deteriorate quiclky.

*They're quite heavy! these shoes are about 1-lb each and wearing them can make you tired if you have to walk from one place to another in an average 8 hour day. But I guess that's the sacrifice one has to make if one wants the steel toe protection.

*The laces suck! ,after a month of use ,you can start to see them falling apart .It's unacceptable!

So overall ,I would recommend these boots for their looks or if you have a demanding job that requires steel toe protection ,but I would definitely not recommend these ,if you have a dirty heavy duty job like: tile/masonry ,mechanic ,plumbing ,landscaping ,etc.. Because you will find yoursef buying one pair of these every 5 months.

Well what can I say, I bought these shoes thinking they would hold together for a long time. After just one month of use, one of the top latches on my left shoe broke off. Just like that!!! I thought Caterpillar stood for quality and endurance, I was so wrong

I recommend it has good products

I got them the very size i have which is rare these days for shoes made in china. Feels very comfy and soft to walk. The only con is they are slippery on ice. But they are not supposed to be worn on ice.
