these are solid work boots. After about two days of 'break in' the padded ankle feels really good. As with most work boots, you'll probably want to buy a more supportive insole (I bought some Kiwi work insoles, very nice). The outsole is very chunky, i think its supposed to resemble the tire tread on Cat's earth moving equipment, but it seems to grip well enough- still no match for icy surfaces you'll encounter this winter, though. However, the boot did a good job keeping my feet warm at around 20 degrees one morning, with normal "athletic" cotton socks.

I can't say they're the best fasion statement, Doc Martens wear a little better in that department, but these are good boots and still look pretty sharp in black (nevermind the embossed bulldozer... its not that noticeable).

I bought these boots for my husband, who is a mechanic, after reading some of the reviews. He works is all kinds of weather, and with the cold weather now he really needs some warm boots. He called me the first day he wore them to work just to tell me his feet were warm and that the boots were so comfortable. They are exactly what I was looking for.

I have owned this boot for several years and got my husband a pair a couple of years ago. We have done everything from cleaning kennels, barnwork, shoveling snow, hiking, and general run-around and they hold up and perform amazingly. Boots are water resistant, not waterproof, so a good boot oil is helpful. The boot is worth an easy 5 stars, but I found this exact boot locally for $20 cheaper so you may want to check your local stores before ordering...

After owning 7-10 pairs, the only thing wrong with these boots are the sole wears out faster then the boot, if you actually wear them to work.

I've only had these for a week, so I can't say how long they will last, but these seem to be very well-made boots. They were comfortable from the first day. They have excellent traction, yet don't pick up dirt and they stay tied. They are a little heavy and and,at first,gave me the Frankenstein on the car pedals feeling, but I have already adjusted. I was a little hesitant on the Caterpillar brand, but it says "a division of Wolverine" on the box, and they seem to be of that quality.

At First I Did Not Like Them On My Feet , So I Got Another Brand & Did Not Like Them , So I Gone Back & Tried The Caterpillar For a Week & WOW , Very Nice , Lite & Soft To Walk In , No Heel Sliding Up & Down In Back , It's a Good Boot From Sunrise To Sunset & My Feet Are Not Tired !

The soles of these boots feel a lot like a good pair of sneakers. But more sturdy. They lasted me over a year, even working full time in construction. My feet never got wet (although I wasn't in super wet conditions). A new pair of laces and insoles around the one year mark got me about 6 more months. Then bought another pair. I once tried a different model of CAT boots when I couldn't find these, and what a mistake!! From now on I will only buy these boots. And especially for the price relative to other work boots, these are a deal!
