5.0 out of 5 stars The Caterpillar That Came to Church: A Story of the Eucharist
A beautifully written and illustrated story that portrays the mystery of the Eucharist in a way that enables children to grasp the teachings of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Holy Communion. Show me the easiest way to teach a lesson, and I'll use it. This book does the job. A plus is that it is written in both English and Spanish. However, my "precious moment"...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great for children preparing for their 1st Eucharist!
This is a wonderful book to read to children at home or in a Religious Education class. It's especially helpful to reinforce concepts about celebrating the Eucharist for the first time. Kids love it! It's packed with adventure, excitement, and deep emotion.

This review is from: The Caterpillar That Came to Church: A Story of the Eucharist - La Oruga Que Fue a Misa: Un Cuento De La Eucaristia (Spanish and English Edition) (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
However, my "precious moment" with this book occurred while teaching. . . yes, ADULTS! As a religious education teacher for the Parents whose children are preparing to receive the Holy Eucharist, I took the opportunity to read this book to them before it was read to the children. Their reaction was truly amazing! Even though it is geared for a younger audience, all began voicing their own memories of the first time they received the Holy Eucharist. . .recalling how they felt loved and provided for by Jesus. . .acting like the playful boys in church (distracted), some acting like the caterpillar (getting to mass quite by accident), and some changing and becoming like the butterfly (desiring to be with Christ forever). They all sat there in this moment of peace and grace, as I realized that this story had truly strengthened their own beliefs about the Holy Eucharist!

This review is from: The Caterpillar That Came to Church: A Story of the Eucharist - La Oruga Que Fue a Misa: Un Cuento De La Eucaristia (Spanish and English Edition) (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
My daughter (age 7) attends a Catholic school and had this story read to her by a mom during library time there. She came home and raved about how much she loved it, so I had to buy it for her. All I can say is 'Wow' - I was so moved by this story. A little caterpillar accidentally is carried into mass one day and meets with Jesus. Jesus talks to her and she comes to understand the holy sacrifice of the mass - truly His body and blood in the Eucharist. She comes to know the enduring love of Christ. This book is wonderfully illustrated with funny pictures and poignant pictures that really capture childrens' attention and aid in telling the story. It is a treasure - you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful book, especially for children preparing to make their First Communion. The children that I read this book to are 7 - 9 years old. Easy for children to understand.
