4.0 out of 5 stars Eyes for Cat Eye Vectra
Just recently purchased and began using this computer. I found it pretty easy to set up and install on my bike. Being wireless is a real bonus--no wires running everywhere that need to be zip-tied to the frame. Inexpensive and does exactly what I need it to do. Downsides? 3.0 out of 5 stars Good performance but too limited feature offer
The Vectra wireless works fine but is too simple. It does not offer average speed measurement and chronometer for the lap or journey. Those are simple functions.

If you're looking for a computer to keep track of cadence, this isn't it. Also, it will take some getting used to determing which mode I'm in since the little tiny letters that tell you which is which is, well, tiny. I need reading glasses and don't plan on wearing them when I cycle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product: rock solid!, September 21, 2010

This review is from: Cateye Vectra Wireless (Sports)
This is at least my fifteenth cyclocomputer. It is everything that is promised. It can be installed on either the stem or the handlebar; I chose the stem. The receiver installs easily on the upper fork. Setting the tire size and circumference was straight forward and easy. The Cateye design team has made a winner. There are others that have more bells and whistles, but none offer the simplicity, style and reliability of the Cateye Models. There are others that are cheaper; but, they never last as long and they need constant adjustment. I don't need a cardiac rate, or a cadence, or K calories; I can figure that on my own. I get odometer, trip mileage, time of day, and max speed. Really, I don't want more. I have had more functions but they are for the toy boys. This is a solid buy. Total install time: 12 minutes (I have done this before)

2.0 out of 5 stars Jam Job, February 13, 2011
This review is from: Cateye Vectra Wireless (Sports)
I bought this easy-to-install and not so easy-to-read wireless computer despite its bare bones features; I'm a tourist and not training for the Olympics. What I didn't expect is how easily it jammed up. Sweat and grit got into the slides holding it to the mount almost immediately, making it very difficult to wrestle off the bike. Salt built up in the mode switch, too, which jammed it -- and since the unit is hard to get off the bike, I wound up breaking the mount (a year in, to be fair) in my perpetual battle to separate the computer from the bike so I could fiddle with the jammed mode switch. I expected better engineering than this from Cateye. Surely their engineers realize that the position of a computer guarantees that it will get perspired on --and in our dry Southwestern climate, the sweat dries out almost immediately. Once I get a replacement mount, I'll put some grease on the slides and see if I have better luck unmounting the unit. I can't figure out what to do about the jamming mode switch beyond frequent washing. I didn't have these problems with other computers I've owned; the Vectra has been a disappointing purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Entry Level Cyclecomputer, January 12, 2009
This review is from: Cateye Vectra Wireless (Sports)
This unit was easy to install and program. Wireless makes for a clean look. Functions don't include average speed which is actually a good thing for a winter single speed bike where getting there in one piece is a bigger priority.

3.0 out of 5 stars What's my time?, August 26, 2008
I can't believe they actually make a cyclocomputer that doesn't have elapsed time. Distance and time are the most important things. Anyway, set up was easy and it works great but without "time" it's almost useless. So if you need "time" get the MC100W MICRO WIRELESS like I did,I is really good cylocomputer. The VECTRA is only good for a trainer.

Not super happy with this. It was fine for the first 1000 miles or so, but now I'm starting to have issues with the receiver not registering the magnet and I have to fiddle around with it 8 times out of ten to get it to start working before a ride. The receiver seems to really dislike when the bike rides in my roofrack. I've had to reset the unit more than a few times, which isn't a big deal, but it is pretty aggravating when your the squeaky wheel in the group. I've tried changing the batteries which alleviated the problem for a bit, but now it's starting to have issues again. I wouldn't recommend it, and I certainly wouldn't purchase it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cateye Vectra, December 15, 2010

The Cateye Vectra is easily installed (about 20 minutes), easily set-up (one set button on back), and provides quick instant feedback for your ride. I am a beginning rider, and so I don't need GPS or a "smart" odometer. Knowing my speed, distance traveled, and average speed is great for me. The numbers are large enough to read, and the low price makes this an easy deal.

i really like this computer. I had a cateye before I purchased this one that had so many settings that I could not remember how to use them. I had to keep the instruction book where I could find it at all times just to operate it. This simple cateye is just want I want...it's easy to use and gives me all the information I need for by rides.

This is an excellent, but basic, bike computer. It gives you current speed, total miles, trip miles, and current time. The only problem is the mount is really basic, relying on zip ties. Mounting is very easy and I have used the computer for over 100 miles with no problems.
