Very good , BUT...,
By I have bought the remote buttons now and will see how they work. The numbers are fine and I can see them ok, but the other indicators are too small for my 45 year old eyes (+1.25)!!! But having no wires is key and it is so worthwhile... So buy it if yor eyes are ok, and get the remote buttons from CatEye's website - they are about $15 plus S&H...

Mixed review,
While this Wireless Cycle Computer has great features as described, I have found it difficult to use in practice. It is difficult to conveniently move between features and to reset the information it presents (e.g., time, distance, etc.) When I am not trying to reset the information presented, the CatEye is great. I should add that CatEye's customer service was great. When initially installing the Cycle Computer one of the pieces broke to attach the Computer to my bike's handlebars. After contacting Cat Eye, they promptly followed up with a replacement.

This review is from: Cateye CD300DW Double Wireless Cadence Bicycle Computer (Sports)
I have an earlier model Cateye that has worked well with no problems. It had nice extra features. So with my new Trek road bike I wanted a dual wireless cadence computer. I tried two other brands and they were both problematic. One had two separate transmitters with the cadence continually dropping out. The other brand had a split wired cadence and wireless speed sensor. It does not work very well riding along roads with parallel powerlines. I was ready to give up but decided to give the Cateye a try since I had good success with Cateye products and this model had good reviews even though it is on the upside of pricey.I'm glad I did as it works great and the dual wireless sensor mount is slick with both sensors contained in the same unit which mounts on the rear lower tube right behind the down tube, (see manual).

Cateye nailed it with this Double Wireless device!!,
By It works like a charm, with a very interactive display and you can have some choice in what is displayed where on the unit. There are a lot of features so it is going to take you a few minutes to get it all set up and mounted, and it took me about three rides to really figure out how to navigate all the different menus, but I think that is half the fun...playing with your new toys! Overall, I love this thing! Not a single complaint...and I highly recommend this to any semi-serious riders and triathletes.

Pretty good computer but some drawbacks,

This computer is expensive so my expectations were rather high. What I like about it is that the speed pickup is on the rear wheel so I can use it on my trainer. The cadence capability is also nice. I like the fact this computer is wireless but I got some interference between my Polar monitor and this wireless computer initially that made it impossible to use both the HRM and this unit at the same time. But with my new Polar monitor, that problem has gone away.I'm not really keen on the display either. I want to see my distance, average speed, actual speed and cadence all at once, but you have to change screens to see this data. Battery life is ok but just. You'll need to replace batteries on this unit much more quickly than you have to on other Cateye computers and when you do, you'll have to redo the settings. So keep your instruction book handy because it isn't a very intuitive setup.

Great product, great price!,
Product was exactly as described. The shipping was incredibly fast. I could not be happier with the sale or the experience.

Beware if you use a heart rate monitor...,
This review is from: Cateye CD300DW Double Wireless Cadence Bicycle Computer (Sports)
Overall, it works good. The cadence, speed and distance all seemed accurate and are generally reliable. But it does have several big limitations:1) Doesn't work with a heart rate monitor: The signal from a heart rate monitor interferes with the computer's wireless reception. So if you are using a heart rate monitor, the computer doesn't work. Since there's a good chance you use a heart rate monitor if you are willing to spend this type of money on a bike computer, I consider this a serious limitation. 2) The menu system is definitely not the most user friendly. In terms of when you're on the bike, most of the info is easily accessible. But you definitely need to break out the manual when you want to adjust any settings.

Like many of the other reviewers, I had high expectations for this unit. The battery life is relatively short compared with other computers I've had in the past. Resetting the computer has become a part of my daily routine, so it isn't the most reliable device I've ever had. If you wear a heart rate monitor, I do not suggest it either. You can reset the signal ID so it doesn't conflict, but again this has to be part of your daily routine. If your handlebars are crowded like mine (i.e. brakes and a lamp mount). Be aware that there isn't a stem mount available so I had to attach the mount itself to my stem using quickties. |
