5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps the cars aware
I have had this on my bike for about six weeks now, and it has performed beautifully. I was concerned that it might fall off, since I do jumps and stuntriding at night. But the bracket is sturdy and has never been a problem. The different modes are more than enough (scanning, random, all-blink, always-on, off), and it seems to be quite bright -- or at least enough to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mine fell off a number of times
It's quite good as a light, but the bracket broke after 4 months and it's gone. Before that, I found that the quick remove mechanism would also release with some bumps. Maybe it's because I can't attach it to the seat column, as it expects, but just sort of cable tied it.

My solution to the quick release had worked (a cable tie around the release) but just...

I have had this on my bike for about six weeks now, and it has performed beautifully. I was concerned that it might fall off, since I do jumps and stuntriding at night. But the bracket is sturdy and has never been a problem. The different modes are more than enough (scanning, random, all-blink, always-on, off), and it seems to be quite bright -- or at least enough to give cars a little warning that I'm on the road. Recommended if you ride in any situation where you want cars to see you from behind after sundown. I don't know how long the batteries last, because so far I have not needed to change them (30 hours of riding on scan-mode).

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite blinkie, December 1, 2007
By
This review is from: Cateye TL-LD600BR (5)R LED Bicycle Tail and Safety Light (Red) (Sports)
I've purchased about every blinkie on the market and this is my favorite. It is bright, it attaches and detaches easily, and can be mounted vertically or horizontally. (My leg strikes it if it is horizontal, so I like being able to mount it on the bike vertically.) I commute at night in traffic, so having a dependable and bright rear light is very important to me. This is one that has done the job very well (bright)and has been very reliable. The best I've used so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good light, one flaw, October 9, 2007

This light has pretty much everything you'd expect in a good taillight: bright, good battery life, strong mount, quick release, no tools needed to change battery, and waterproof.

I purchased this light because my old one was stolen, so I keep this one with me rather than on the bike. The problem lies in the switch: it is too easy to press. The light often turns on in my bag which is aggravating because it runs the batteries down.

My solution to the quick release had worked (a cable tie around the release) but just the other day I found only the column mount left. All the mounting parts are plastic and somewhat cheap.

But the light is rather good, bright, and has flashing patterns. Although the quick on/off flashing does seem to annoy drivers in cars who sometimes shouted at me.

But I am willing to try again and buy another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cateye TL-LD600BR 5-Red LED Bike Tail and Safety Light Review, November 15, 2009

This review is from: Cateye TL-LD600BR (5)R LED Bicycle Tail and Safety Light (Red) (Sports)
I am an enthusiast of flashlights, headlamps, CCFT lanterns, and coolers. After comparing bike safety lights, I decided to get the Cateye 5-LED Tail Light. This is a review of the Cateye TL-LD600BR 5-Red LED Bike Tail and Safety Light.

Batteries: The only lights considered are those that run on AA or AAA batteries and are efficient. This light uses two AAA batteries.

Efficiency: I am not able to report on exactly how efficient or long lasting the light is. However, the light was left on all night and appears to still be powered adequately.

Output: The best aspect about the light is that it has the five LEDs lined up in a row. All five can flash simultaneously, stay constantly on, flash each single LED in a row (Knight Rider mode), or have a random pattern. The LEDs are bright and the arrangements of the LEDs and multiple settings make it very noticeable, which is important in safety. Plus, the light can be observed from the sides, not just from the direction it is facing. I believe these features gives the light an advantage to other tail lights as far as safety.

Build: This Cateye Tail Light appears to be durable, is very lightweight, and attaches securely to the bars on a bicycle. It has been through some bumps and does not rattle or move from its secured position. It does not appear to be set up to be able to be screwed in place of a reflector. The light can be adjusted to be set vertically or horizontally. The light does appear water resistant, though it does not appear to be submergible.

Overall, the Cateye TL-LD600BR 5-Red LED Bike Tail and Safety Light appears to be nicely built, efficient, and extremely effective safety light with a simple design. I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5.0. This rating would be higher if the Cateye light had casing that was sealed a little more confidently from the elements.

+1

I love this light. After installing, I noticed passing motorists giving me a little more room. In blink mode the batteries seem to last forever. Mounting system seems a little weak, but judicious use of some electrical tape and it is secure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product that protects you while you ride!, December 23, 2011
This review is from: Cateye TL-LD600BR (5)R LED Bicycle Tail and Safety Light (Red) (Sports)
I love this bike tail light and I feel safer when I use it. Every time I ride, night or day I have it on. It is extremely bright and I like the fact that it has 5 LEDs that operate in 4 modes of operation. The lights will either flash all together, be on all the time, flash side to side or my favorite the random flash. The random flash is highly visible at night and grabs your attention.

These LEDs are very bright and they will operate on 2 AAA batteries. I hate bike lights that use special small round batteries. AAA batteries are easy to find, inexpensive and they will last 30 hours in this tail light.

I would not ride a bike without a flashing tail light and this is one of the best you can get in my opinion.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well until it doesn't, June 24, 2008
By
This review is from: Cateye TL-LD600BR (5)R LED Bicycle Tail and Safety Light (Red) (Sports)
I have used this light for over a year. It has worked very well for me for about eight months or so, but in the last four I have noticed a problem. When I get home and take the light off, sometimes I see that it is not shining anymore. If I tap or jiggle the light, then it comes back on again. I have tried taking the batteries out and putting them back in again, but the problem persists.

Anyway, when it works it is sufficiently wide and bright to serve its function well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bright light but switches on far too easily when in a pocket or bag, February 16, 2012
This review is from: Cateye TL-LD600BR (5)R LED Bicycle Tail and Safety Light (Red) (Sports)
I think generally Cateye products are very good in every respect but unfortunately this isn't one of them - the light's bright and the design of it means it's probably easier to see than when the led's are clustered, but I've lost count the number of times I've found it's switched itself on either in my pocket or in my bag...
