Product Description

Take home a packet for a cat or a cat-lover you know. Sweet oats are easy to grow indoors, year 'round. Some say oats aid feline digestion and eliminate hairballs. Whether or not that's true, cats do love to nibble tender, sweet oats. So much in fact that oats are sold as "catgrass." Growing is simple. Fill a shallow bowl or saucer with moist potting soil, sprinkle oats over the soil at about 10 seeds per square inch. Lightly press the seed into the soil Then just set the container on a windowsill, and keep it evenly moist not wet or dry. Germination is in about 5 days. Your only problem will be keeping your cats away from the grass.

5.0 out of 5 stars 900 seeds + some free flower seeds!, September 12, 2011

I have had a great experience with these seeds. First, there were 900 in each bag (I ordered a few at a time) - and in the box I also got a cute note and an extra little bag of flower seeds! These seeds sprouted within the first week and the cats have been happily nomming away at the grass (which means they leave my other indoor plants alone - the whole reason I grow this stuff) since then. There hasn't been one incident of tummy upset either. Now the dogs seem to want in on the grass action too though, haha, so I may have to expand my indoor grass growing operation.

Here's what I've done with these seeds to tame my cats indoor plant eating problems: I started 4 little pots with these seeds outside (and I mean a LOT of these seeds, to create a nice large patch of grass in the pot, much like you see in the photo of the product). I let them get pretty high and well-rooted. Then 2 of the pots came in the house, one by each of the indoor plants they seem to find irresistible. The other 2 pots stay outside, growing away, and then every 2 weeks or so when they've 'mowed' the grass in the house, I swap them out - adding seeds if I need to in any barren spots. So far (2 months and counting) no more nibbles on any of the other indoor plants, no more waking up to kitty barf on the floor, and everything is going great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catgrass, May 20, 2011

The grass had taken over the whole pot, and is growing quite well.

I'm growing it organically in a ceramic pot, near the window, misted two or three times a day.

If you have a cat and have not grown grass for it........you should give it a try. I have two cats and they love it. It grows very fast and seems to appeal to the cats more than the outside grass.
