This is a terrific children's book that we enjoyed with our son and daughter a decade ago. Themes are friendship and finding a home. Illustrations are excellent. I was stunned to find it is out of print when I sought it for a friend who is adopting a baby girl.

This wonderful children's book enchants with its illustrations, but captures the heart with is tale of finding friends in high, and highly unexpected, places.Mouse escapes from a New York City pet shop in seatch of a "real home" and finds himself in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Although he loves his beautiful new surroundings he is rejected by the cathdral's resident mice. All is not lost, though. He settles on a high pillar that somehow provides him with bread and cheese. Eventually, he discovers where his meals are coming from, and learns to trust a stone carver who provides him with the home he's always wanted. A sweet, charming tale for children of all ages.

This is a wonderful story that I enjoy reading to my children. When they get to chose a bedtime book, this one has been chosen at least 20 times. I, too, was stunned to see it was out of print.
