It was at a small book shop in Salt Lake City that I discovered this amazing little book. Perhaps it's "little" in dimension size, but it is a GIANT as a reference book.

Mind you, I had several other reference books on Researching the Catholic Parishes of Quebec Province, but this little gem is so very different than all the others. No one but Jeanne SAUVE WHITE lists everyone who has worked on parish registers NEXT to the name of the parish itself. What a boon to researchers! This alone will save untold hours of unnecessary research.

Additionally, critical information is included, such as: the Diocese in which the parishes are included. Every good Catholic researcher knows that diocesan records are worth their weight in gold, especially if the local parish register has met with a sorry demise. Catholic records in general are ALWAYS dupicated, at least once a year, and submitted to the local bishop--therefore the term "Bishopric Record"! I NEVER want to hear again, "the records were burnt in a church fire".

While everyone doing serious research in a specific area should have a trustworthy map, Jeanne SAUVE WHITE goes above AND beyond by including City references and approximate locations of the parishes--a researcher's dream come true!

My copy is "dog-eared" as I use it over and over again. For those wishing to purchase a copy of Jeanne SAUVE WHITE's book will be pleased to learn that the Genealogical Publishing Co. of Baltimore Maryland is about to put out an additional printing. Amazon.com is undoubtedly aware of this and will gladly supply your needs now with used copies and later on, those "hot-off-the-press"!!!

Hello all,
I was searching for Quebec books and saw this out-of-print book. This is without a doubt the best book of its kind I have seen. I bought a thousand or so microfiche only to realize they didn't have the counties listed without taking each fiche out and reading the first page. With Jeanne's book I literally have worn it out and have to put a new binding on it from constant usage of her book! I cannot say enough about this great book.

I will say.. I think she missed a couple towns... but errors happen to only those who do things~ GREAT GREAT book.. and no I have never met the gal.
