The Catholic Prayer Bible, Lectio Divina Edition is a very valuable tool for anyone's faith journey! It causes one to really reflect upon the Bible, by putting themselves in as participants and wittnesses. I have a number of Bibles, but I must say that this is my favorite. I would love to get one with Giant Print. You will not regret purchasing this Bible. This is money well spent.

This bible is a great way to learn how to pray using the "Lectio Divina" or sacred readings method. The way that they step you through the four steps while reading the bible passage helps one to go into contemplation/meditation on the word of God. Since it uses the NRSV translation I would recommend it to anyone looking to come closer to God.

This Bible is excellent. It is not a study bible with dates and facts in the margin. There are many wonderful Bibles to meet this need. It is a Bible that does does its gentle work through the heart not only through the head. It first provides a summary of a passage, then a reflection, prayer, and an action. This is a deeply meaningful way to put scripture into practice.

As a person who is beginning the Lectio Divina method of reading the Bible, this particular bible is very helpful in laying out the steps.

I had purchased this book after briefly seeing in it a bookstore. I loved the concept of being given a road map of how to use this prayer style. I am enthralled with the way it divides the Bible into manageable chunks, as well as the "Reflect, Pray and Act" reflections. I was always scared to try this prayer style, not certain of how much I should read, what I needed to reflect on; this solved this fear as well as added what I need to DO as a Catholic in response to the reading.

I am also excited that it offered a different translation than ones I am generally exposed to as a Catholic.

I have plenty of Study Bibles. This is an outstanding prayer Bible--exactly what I expect from the Paulists.

The thing I do not like about the book are the physical pages. They are extremely thin--so much so that the words from the page on the reverse AND the opposite page bleed through. It is nearly impossible to read as a result. I have taken to looking at the "Reflect, Pray, Act" section, and then reading the Bible texts in another one of my Bibles.

I would advise buyers to maybe look at the book in the bookstore first to see if the pages are as distracting to them as they are to me. I kept my copy rather than sending it back, though, because of reflections offered are nothing short of inspiring.

I would have paid the same amount if the Paulist Press had developed a book of the reflections as a separate text as well. Maybe they still will.

This version of the Scriptures is a marvelous prayer aid, not just for Catholics but for all Christians. The commentaries and reflections that appear on every page are quite insightful and assist the reader/pray-er see familiar pasages with new eyes. Using this Bible helps one to rediscover the power of God's Word in everyday life. A great gift for self or others!

Since receiving my copy I am completely taken up with the thought provoking page notes and references. I also save time in cross-references. A must have for any regular reader of the Scriptures.

The product arrived in a very timely manner, in excellent condition. My only complaint is that I thought the content of the additions to the bible would be a bit deeper, but overall it is a nice Bible with sweet prayers.

It seems like a long time since I tried to purchase this item. Availability or manufacturer's delays seemed to go on forever. It was well worth waiting for!

The contemplative, lectio guides in the margin are quite good,helpful and enlightening. I thought I could detect a slight hint of either modernistic or liberal Catholicism in the margin meditation/lectio notes, could be wrong, but its ever so slight, if even there. Nothing to stop recommending this very helpful and good resource!
