This book provides an excellent recap of the encyclicals and the important paragraphs listed therein. It gave me a concise summary so I would be knowledgeable about he document before I began reading it.

The book is well written, and it does contain much that is commendable. However, as with much of the post Vatican II Catholic church, it is rife with the Modernist heresy (yes, it was formally declared to be heresy -- indeed, the synthesis of all heresies) and the faint stench of Marxist liberation theology is discernable. Pre Vatican II this would have been branded...

The book is a great source for an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching. It covers many topics and provides insight to all. Like any book, a bibliography is provided for the serious and querious to explore a topic in greater detail.

The book is well written, and it does contain much that is commendable. However, as with much of the post Vatican II Catholic church, it is rife with the Modernist heresy (yes, it was formally declared to be heresy -- indeed, the synthesis of all heresies) and the faint stench of Marxist liberation theology is discernable. Pre Vatican II this would have been branded heretical; post Vatican II, it may even be considered somewhat conservative in some circles.
