The ball I received was hard rubber green and gray colored.
Jeffrey D. Dillard
The track is very well made, so the ball rolls very smoothly and I like that we can change the shape.
Barkley484
Cat loves to play with it on her own hours of fun and keeps her busy and active.

I had recently read an article about aleviating boredom in cats and this product was mentioned so I decided to get one for my young male cat Toby. He played with it almost immediately & rarely walks by it without stopping to send the ball rolling. I have it laid out in a wavy line and it is fun to watch him stalk the ball as it passes the openings. The design is unique as the end pieces are slightly elavated so the ball hits the end & is sent back the other way.

K. Smith's review is spot on. This is a reconfigurable tube with holes. Inside the tube is a ball. The cat puts its paw through a hole and pushes the ball, which goes rolling up and down or around the track. The ball makes a soft noise as it rolls. Some other cat balls can be fit inside. The best we've found so far is plastic balls with jingle bells inside; these are too fragile normally (they get stepped on and break) but very appealing inside this tube. We've also left cat treats, toy mice, and ribbons inside.

The tube is very sturdy, up to the riggors of having a cat pick it up and chew on it, etc. Our cats are more likely to play with it if you change the configuration often. Also, this was not obviously a toy to them until we trained them. That is, for the first week we left it in front of the TV, and my daughter or I would play with the ball as we wanted the cat to do. We also pulled their string through it, and sprinkled catnip inside. The cats would watch and chase the string. After a week they got the idea and would play sometimes on their own -- just one push to begin with. It is best appreciated late at night when we are not there to observe the cat. My daughter has it in her room, now, as an attractive lure and entertainment for the cat -- she hears the ball rolling at night sometimes, and so knows the cat is playing. This works very well as a child/cat toy, because the cat likes when she changes or moves it.

---

9-months later: our younger cat died of cancer, and we since adopted a kitten. The kitten figured out how to play with this toy after being shown twice (i.e., we pushed the ball twice -- that's it!) Our new kitten adores this toy, and will sometimes play with it for 20 minutes straight.

I'd classify this as one of those "when it works, it really, really works" things.

Our lazier cat couldn't be less motivated by the catit play circuit, but our more active cat - holy cow does he love it! Even months later, all you have to do is rearrange the track, then start the ball rolling. He'll come running and wear himself out with it. The funniest is when he bats the ball, then leaps high in the air - like a victory celebration.

It's not irresistable, as Cat #1 has proven, but for the right cat, is a very good cat toy. On par with a laser for entertainment value.

I have a 5 year old cat. I just bought this toy. The first time I bought it she played with it for a short time. It has been 3 days, and I have a video of her playing with it. She will play with it after I push the ball. Then she stares at it like prey and when the ball stops she pounces. She played with it on her own until I got up to do something. So what I am trying to say is that my cat will play with it and have a ball! But she only does this after I initially push it, then she takes over. I am glad I bought it, because she barely plays with any toys, and we know that older cats are finicky. I will let you know if she starts to play with it on her own, she might have already while I was sleeping.

It's been a couple of weeks and now Karma plays with it by herself.

I have three other round type ball toys, one has a mouse that goes around, one flashes in the dark and one is just balls in holes. My cat looked at them once and never looked again. My cat just turned 3 yr lost his two much older aunts and was bored. I didn't want another cat but felt guilty because I am gone all day. He has played with this toy more than 3 times each day, some times for 30-40 min for more than 4 months. I really can't believe it as he only has one other toy he plays with on his own. He stalks the ball, lays on his back to hit it, watches it to see if it moves etc. Even the squirrel in the window doesn't interest him as much. I do think all cats are different but I am buying him add-ons today for his birthday. I am truly amazed and the cost here is sooo much cheaper than the pet store.

My 6 year old cat has been in my face during the day lately blocking my computer screen (I work from home) so I hopped onto Amazon looking for a toy that didn't require my direct involvement (compared to say a feather wand). I ordered it on Tuesday, it was just delivered and I opened it and this is moments after the 2 minute assembly. I'm surprised and thrilled to say that he's into it!

After I assembled the track for this toy (very easy assembly), my 8 month old kittens played with it for over 30 minutes.

My male kitten would run and pounce on the track while my female would bite at the track cover and pick up the track. The construction is great . . . doesn't fall apart if the cat/kitten tries to pick up the track.

Both kittens play with it at the same time, batting the ball back and forth in the track! I finally found a toy that they are not destroying AND will play with for more than a few minutes =^..^=
