Jennifer B. Foulk and Robert F. Biser, authors of "Cats Believe in Santa," come together in a father/daughter duo to tell an eclectic but well-written assortment of stories about the cats they've encountered through life. From grateful but shy ferals to loving lap cats, the family team makes the reader feel like every feline has a special place in life, and the whiskered, stoic (though sometimes silly) souls truly need homes to call their own. The book promotes responsible cat caretaking but more importantly, shows its readers how funny, fulfilling and sometimes frantic living with a cat can be. The antics are endless and the heart-warming moments are abundant in "Cats Believe in Santa." Readers will enjoy the photographs taken by Biser, capturing the cats at play and rest. The book itself is well-made and will last for years to come. While the title suggests this is a holiday-centric book, the stories are timeless and can be enjoyed year-round. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever loved a cat.
I am an avid reader of pet books. I especially love the story type accounts of pets. Mr. Biser's book is full of heart-warming tales of cats getting a second chance at life.
It is apparent that he and his family are devoted care givers who not only seek to provide the most comfortable life they can for their felid companions but also are very concerned and devoted to providing them with a rich life full of entertainment, comfort, and stimuli.
Only a person who truly understands and appreciates the intricate complex needs and desires of cats could capture the true meaning of what a cat's love consists of and then place it in story form.
These stories are sure to remind us all how wonderful these animals are and how lucky we all are to get a second chance.
I hope they inspire you to rescue a pet in need. You are sure to learn that pets always give back more than is imagineable in return.
"Cats Believe in Santa" is a delightful collection of stories of beloved felines, their antics, and amazing personalities. If you have ever shared your life with a cat, you will relate to the author's stories of their wonderful four legged furry companions. As I read through each cat's story, I found out what I already knew, being a well established cat person, that each feline, although members of the same species, was actually as individual as I was, each one had a unique personality all its own, that could warm even the coldest heart! "Cats Believe in Santa" is a wonderful, well-written collection of real life kitties that certainly changed the author's lives. If a cat graces your life, you'll certainly relate and think of your own feline(s) as you read, and if you haven't yet had the opportunity to share your life with a cat, maybe after reading "Cats Believe in Santa", you'll realize what a wonderful gift it is to share your life with a cat and welcome one or two into your home!
"Cats Believe in Santa" brought back many vivid memories. Like the Biser family, I've had a fairly steady parade of cats to grace my life, both in my childhood and as an adult. My parents taught me to appreciate these creatures that love and trust us without question but on their own terms. The same dynamic is obvious in "Cats," as author Jennifer Foulk paints a loving portrait of the many cats that chose the Biser farm as their forever home, her mom who welcomed them in, and her dad who truly is a cat whisperer. Accompanying these stories are photographs taken by Mr. Biser that reflect the obvious connection each cat has with him. We buy cat calendars and cat picture books because we appreciate their beauty. But "Cats Believe in Santa" is a book for the true cat lover. Every picture has a back-story that brings each cat to life, reflecting its unique personality, idiosyncrasies and appeal. It's a perfect book to read with your favorite kitty curled up on your lap.
I was very entertained while reading the stories in "Cats Believe in Santa". This light hearted selection of cat tales was both touching and heartwarming. If you did not understand that cats are as individual as their human companions before reading Mr. Biser and his daughter's book, you certainly will after. You will truly feel as though you are part of their family while experiencing their cats' antics through pictures and prose, and gain a greater appreciation for our felines friends and the love and companionship they have to offer.
"Cats Believe in Santa: Tales of Finding a Forever Home" is a wonderful collection of touching cat tales and beautiful photos. For those of you who love cats and even those who don't know cats personally, this book will be an enjoyable & heart warming read. Cats get alot of bad press, but as these stories & photos prove, they can be loyal, loving & playful pets who give their human companions years of enjoyment & entertainment.
Despite the Holiday sounding title, this is a great book for any animal lover of any age at any time of year. I hope all readers of these stories will be inspired to give a shelter cat a safe & loving home. I have 4 cats who share my life; 1 barn kitten given as a gift, 1 rescue cat, and 2 older cats I took in when their elderly owner passed away. They are each and every one a unique joy. So get this book, enjoy it, then get a kitty!
