Not bad,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Cat's Meow (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is about a girl that has a cat named Pip. Pip is a special cat. He speaks Spanish. The girl wanted to tell everyone how unique was Pip, but they laughed and said it was a lie. The girl asked Pip who taught him to speak Spanish and Pip said it was his neighbor, Sr. Medina. I recommend this book to people who like cats and talk Spanish. When I picked this book I thought it would be awesome, but it is not so good, but not so bad.

Disappointing,

This review is from: The Cat's Meow (Mass Market Paperback)
The book, The Cat's Meow is the most boring book I have ever read. The story is about a girl called Graciela and her cat named Pip who knows how to talk. I don't recommend this book because the words are very easy and there's nothing interesting that happens. I thought this book would be more interest but I was disappointed.

Interesting and funny story,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Cat's Meow (Mass Market Paperback)
The book The Cat's Meow is interesting and funny. It's a fiction story about a girl called Graciela who has a cat that can talk. She tries to show people that Pip, her cat can talk , but when she tries Pip doesn't say anything. This is why everyone thinks she is lying . I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read funny and interesting fiction books about animals.

Strange and funny story,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Cat's Meow (Mass Market Paperback)
The book, The Cat's Meow by Gary Soto is very strange and funny. This fictional story is about a girl that has a cat and her neighbor speaks 7 languages. Every night Mr. Medina, her neighbor, puts headphones on the cat, Pip for him to listen to the Spanish station. One night, Pip spoke Spanish for the first time and Graciela was surprised. She tried to tell her friends, but they didn't believe her. If you want to know what happened next, read the story.
I recommend this story to people that like to laugh and like cats too.

Strange book,

My first grader was assigned to read this book. I was so glad that I did not let my child read this alone. What a terrible book! A little girl who is neglected by her parents runs off to a neighbor's house without telling her parents where she is going. She befriends a man who apparently lives alone and enters his house upon meeting him!!! Then they share a secret! Ok, so the secret is a talking cat but the fact is sharing a secret with an adult male is such a strange plot. Maybe this irritates me so because of what we have been watching on the news. The only good thing we got out of this book is the fact that I talked to my children about how terrible it was and why. I did write to the school and asked that the administrators read it for themselves. Do not let your children read this book alone!
