This review is from: Cats: An Owners Guide (Hardcover)
This is a good book for the beginning cat owner. The book starts with a nice introduction to cat breeds and types with pictures. Learn the origins, common behavior and temperament in addition to cute feline facts. Centuries of random breeding have resulted in millions of domestic cats. The chapter on Cat identifiers will show the non-pedigree cat owner various qualities that set their Tortie apart from their Tabby (as an example), solid color versus multicolor or facial and ear shapes that also set the standards for pedigree varieties. Additional chapters include preparations to make before bringing a feline home and what to do once it arrives including basic care and grooming. A self-help section titled "Why Does Kitty Do That?" and "Times When Cats Need Special Care" are included with basic information too. Finally, the end brings cat show information, a resource section that includes a list of plants poisonous to cats, useful magazines, newsletters, other books plus a glossary and photography credits. For the cat lover at heart this is a nice book to add to your collection.
