I purchased this island due to the complete lack of counter space in my condo. It is worth noting that I am using it against a wall instead of as an island in the middle of the room, because my one minor complaint relates to this. You cannot tell from the picture, but the cabinet itself is not as deep as the countertop, this results in an overhang of about six inches. The construction allows you to choose which side the overhang will fall on. I chose to have it overhang the drawer, not the back, because it was more convenient to have the cabinet flush against the wall. While this was more convenient for me, the down side is that now i have an extra six inches of countertop overhanging my drawer, which limits access to the depths of the drawer. I've made do, and it's by no means a deal-breaker, but it is a bit of a bummer. If you were to have this as an island in the middle of a room, you could have the overhang on the backside (which could also create a quasi-breakfast bar) and this would not be an issue.
Assembling the cabinet was quite simple. I did it myself, and though perhaps i wouldn't recommend this if it could be avoided because it gets heavy toward the end, it's doable. I'm 5'2", 120 pounds. Part of the instructions were missing, but luckily they are also available for download from Catskill. Also, i was missing a few shelf pins, but Catskill sent them immediately and i had them within a few days. I was very very pleased with Catskill's customer service. The finish of the cabinet is rougher than i expected (as in not shellacked like everything else you buy), and the literature that comes with it is very detailed on how to care for it. Also, it's worth mentioning that there is only one wide drawer, not two. The picture had me confused. The cabinet is sturdy and it rolls around smoothly, or locks in place if you prefer. I love that it's portable, and it would be great a for a renter or someone who anticipates moving and does not want to lose their investment. When I move, this cabinet is coming with me!

Real wood is tough to find these days. This item delivers. Nice solid unit. It takes probably 3 hours to assemble but it looks great when you are done. Make sure you buy some mineral oil or some like "Howard Butcher Block Conditioner Food Grade Mineral Oil and Natural Waxes" to seal it. This is not a unit that has been poly coated. It's real hardwood that requires some care and maintenance. But if you're looking for a good quality island made from real wood then this fits the bill.

Great kitchen island, a tad short for me,

We rearranged our current kitchen setup, and needed a new kitchen island as our old one was moved against the wall. I finally decided on this (super island plus). It took my husband about 2-3 hours to put it together. The instructions are a little bit vague at times, but still easy to follow. I would suggest having at least one extra person to help because the island gets heavy and you need to flip it over while it's half assembled on casters.
Only two of the four casters lock, if that's an issue for you. The top drawer is a bit on the short side, so don't expect to store anything overly bulky in it. It also doesn't open all the way, so small things may get lost as well! The only real issue I have with this island is the height. It's a little bit on the short side for me (I'm 5'9") I was hoping the measurements they give were without casters, but not so. The height isn't a deal-breaker, I don't have to bend over or anything. It's just a bit smaller than my old island so it'll probably take some getting used to. Buying a thick butcher block might help us tall folks! :)
