Great cart for various uses., December 15, 2010
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen Cuisine Cart IV (Kitchen)
I bought this to put a small microwave on. I'm so glad that I did.
The top is butcher block so if someone would need it to use as an extra work space in their kitchen it would be great for that too. It's a good solid piece of furniture and it looks very nice. I've gotten some good compliments on it.
The storage space below is great. The drawer is ok, but I don't use it much. It doesn't slide as easily as I think it could, but maybe we could put a little wax on it to make it smoother.
As far as the assembly went, my DH put it together. I think it took a little over an hour, but he is very experienced at doing this type of task.
The price is a little more than some other products out there, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Glad We Bought it, July 16, 2011
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen Cuisine Cart IV (Kitchen)
After searching on and off for a year I finally gave up finding anything local. I searched the internet for weeks looking for just the right cart. Our kitchen is small and there is one spot that a cart will fit. The dimensions were critical and this cart was just right. I ordered it from Amazon and It came in a heavy flat box within about 5 or so days. I read the directions first before starting on it. Then opened the box and spread out all the parts on the floor. I have never bought ANY product in all my 60+ years that had assembly directions as complete as Catskill Craftsmen. I am mechanically able to figure it out no matter how bad the directions, but this product...well they have spent the time to get it right and with diagrams showing what you are doing along the way. It took me about an hour and a half, taking my time,to put it together. This is not a quick "throw together" project, but if you take your time, with the great instructions, you can do it even if your not super handy. The wood is a little rough in spots so a little sand paper helps smooth things out a bit here and there. This thing is rock solid. I have a large (same size as the cart's top)microwave on top of it and there is no wobble or frame shifting within the cart sides. The sturdy top drawer is deep, slides in and out easy and has a stop so it won't pull all the way out and land on the floor! Note: I didn't want to use a towel bar with mine. You can choose which side the pre drilled panel is on so you can put it on either side and not see holes on the other. For me I put the pre drilled panel against the fridge so you don't see the holes because I didn't use the towel bar at all. (The holes are small anyway you could fill'em in with wood filler.) If I had to make a suggestion it would be to somehow offer different finished to better match your kitchen. That said you can always do that yourself with stain if you wanted to. After spending so much of my time looking, I feel good about my choice because I bought a great product,(Being Green helps too!)built solid, looks great, very good value for the money (I had planned to spend more.) If you like what you see in the picture, buy it you won't be disapointed

Exceeded all expectations - especially for the price!, June 28, 2011
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen Cuisine Cart IV (Kitchen)
What a find - especially with the free shipping! I LOVE this rolling cabinet/counter-top island, and even my curmudgeonly husband is impressed and pleased. It's a mix of solid, sustainably-harvested, birch wood and high quality wood veneer, and there's nothing cheap or cheesy about it. It looks great, it's solid, and it rolls easily. I'm especially impressed with the creative craftsmanship to come up with such a high quality but affordable unit. What makes it affordable is that you have to assemble it yourself. Some Catskill Craftsman customers have stated that they found the assemblage challenging, and I confess, their reviews intimidated me. However when I finally plunged in I found the instructions and diagrams to be the best I have ever read! I laid out all the parts, lined up all the screws, nuts and other hardware up, poured myself a gin and tonic, and two hours later I was done! And all it took was a screwdriver and hammer. (I cheated and used the power driver on a few screws, but you could easily do it all by hand.) I had called the company before the purchase with a few questions and found them exceptionally friendly and helpful, and they certainly stand behind their 'Made in America' product! And I love that their plant turns all the wood by-products into wood-burning pellets. This is the kind of ingenuity and commitment to conservation that offers a hopeful model for small businesses in America to be able to compete globally. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with my purchase!
