Well worth the money., October 27, 2009
My parents bought me one of these Catskill Craftsmen French Country Workcenter's when I moved into my first house in July of 1999. It's been used every single day I've been home since that day. It works perfect in my kitchen, and will probably last another 20 years. The only thing you have to do to this is oil it occasionally. I use mineral oil and if I haven't done it in awhile, it can really soak it up. It works as a counter, work surface, storage and cutting board. I try not to cut bread on it with a bread knife because of the deep grooves that a bread knife can leave, but I have done it before. It just adds character to a piece that's aging very nicely. The casters are heavy duty which make it easy to maneuver around the kitchen. Two of the casters can lock in place. The drawer is about 5 inches deep and can hold a decent amount of kitchen gadgets. To my surprise, this shows very few signs of wear and aging for something that is used constantly. I've never had to tighten anything up and it's still as sturdy as the day I assembled it.I'd like to get the 48" one to use in place of my buffet in my informal dining area. The storage space beneath the top comes in very handy.

Looks good, works nicely, but kind of expensive, December 1, 2011
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen French Country Workcenter (Kitchen)
I have the large cart (24 x 36 x36). It is a nice size for my kitchen, and I am using it as an island / work center.
The cart was delivered in two heavy boxes. They were very well packaged. I took me more than two hours to assemble. I would like to point out that my carpentry skills are higher than the average homeowner, so it may take you longer to assemble. The unit is basically assembled upside down, and then you attach the leg assembly to the butcher-block top. Then you attach the caster wheels, then flip the whole thing right-side up.
I assembled the unit on my living room carpet so that nothing would get damaged. However, when I turned the cart right-side up I noticed a finger-sized gouge in the corner of the butcher-block top. There was also a small indentation on the side of the top.
I emailed Catskill Craftsmen and informed them about the defect, and included a picture of the gouge in the wood. The next business day I received an email reply from the company, saying they would ship me out a new top that very day. The new top arrived about a day later. I was very pleased with the prompt service. They asked that I put the old top in the box and they would have UPS come by and pick it up.
Meanwhile, before installing the new butcher-block top, I inspected it and found it to be defect-free. I then installed it with no problem.
At this point I only have one complaint: The new top that I received from Catskill Craftsmen is much darker than the previous top. Whereas the old top exactly matched the light shade of the wood on the rest of the cart, the new top is a much darker brown shade. This might be because they oiled the top before sending it out, and perhaps when I oil the rest of the cart the whole thing will turn darker. I know this probably would be a minor issue for most people, but it is something that I find very noticeable. But I am sure I will get used to it in time.
But I must give Catskill Craftsmen credit to responding so quickly and sending me a replacement butcher-block top. I will continue to buy their products in the future, and would recommend them to my friends.
Meanwhile, I paid almost $600 for this cart, which is pretty pricey for what it is. But I'm sure I will get years of service out of it.

small beach house kitchen has a beautiful island !, January 4, 2012
wow!!! this mini french country, (counter high) table works great in my extremely small kitchen.- as an island no less, which is what i have always wanted. i never dreamed it would work as well as it does. very well made , solid wood (except the bottom of drawer could be thicker).it is too beautiful for me to chop directly on it. i put another chopping board on top . one major complaint---the instructions are terrible. my husband is very experienced at putting things together, it took him hours. but it was worth it .my husband likes it as much as i do.
