I like it so much, I bought a second piece, March 4, 2010

I'm super pleased with this workcenter. It looks really nice, it's solid and it has great storage.
Most of it is solid wood and quite pretty. The large flat panels on the lower back and sides and the bottom of the open shelf are veneer over some very thin wood. It seemed kind of cheap, but actually looks nice. Every thing else is solid wood and very heavy.
The assembly instructions are well written and easy to follow. I put together the back by myself. But as I said the piece is heavy and that makes it hard work to assemble. I ended up hiring a professional assembler to do it which cost $50.00.
The storage is wonderful. The top shallow drawer holds 80% of my cutlery and cooking utensils, 100% of what I use every day. The bottom drawers hold my pasta pot and strainer, a small crock pot, muffin pans, cake pans, and plenty more. I keep my bowls on the open shelf, they look nice and it's great to have them so handy.
I am so happy with it I just ordered the microwave cart. I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because the butcher block top needed sanding.

Assembly not for beginners, January 23, 2012
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen Grand Americana Workcenter (Kitchen)
I ordered the workstation and it arrived less than a week later. One of the shelves had a damaged finish, and the factory shipped a replacement out right away (I can't recall... maybe it arrived 2 days later). The wood is mostly unfinished in that one of the drawer bottoms seems coated with a laminate, but the others do not have it... not that it matters since I plan to line them, but it's an odd inconsistency. The drawer bottoms are also not hugely sturdy... say less than a quarter inch thick and only supported by the edges (no cross beams underneath the drawers). It took two adults more than 4 hours to assemble, but despite the not quite as high quality to the drawers I'm giving this 4 stars. It's much larger than many of the other models I looked at and better quality as well. Although it is assembled wood, it's definitely wood, not OSB. The top is quite sturdy and, despite only sitting on 6 1-inch metal posts, I think the middle shelf will hold up quite well to the storage of heavy cast iron pots and pans.

Love the look, hate the hardware., December 10, 2011
This review is from: Catskill Craftsmen Grand Americana Workcenter (Kitchen)
What a pain to assemble! There are A LOT of parts (ie - shaped, unfinished wood with a bit of oil) in the boxes, and they're not bound together inside the box, so mine had some imperfections (particularly on the veneer panels). Also, the hardware is a right pain in the rump (it uses cams, cam bolts, and set screws, and their fit is abhorrent). In the end, it isn't quite as sturdy as one might imagine. That said, it's a great piece if you can manage to cobble it together.
