Catskill Craftsmen has become the nation's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble domestic hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Catskill Craftsmen manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily Northern Yellow Birch. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Solidly constructed with warp resistant materials. Features include wainscoting on the front, a finger slot for the top and a child safe hinge. Imported.

OK. I chose this product after much shopping because of its materials. I had planned to paint it to match the rooms decor. It definitely cannot be painted. It is not wood. And, within the first 30 seconds of putting it together, one of the dowels stripped out and fractured the materal. This is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP piece crap. If you're looking to spend money on this sort of thing - go to ikea. You'll find something of the same quality or better for at least half the price.

This box is a good size, well-made, and the safety hinge is great for my toddler who opens and closes it himself.

Handy for condo dwellers,

With limited space, and many sneakers, golf shoes, flip flops etc. We use this as a 'boot box' out side our door.The four neighbors in our building all ordered one. We look very uniform now! It's really not an 'outdoor' box, but we could not find one, so we don't mind replacing the box every 4 years if it does not hold up.
